Cozy Glow done even better · 8:51pm Jul 15th, 2022
So, I once made mention to a Pheonix Wright Villain known as Simon Keyes that exists in the Japan exclusive Edgeworth Investigations 2 game and while that may be a bit of a stretch as that is something only Japan got, after the digital version of Lego City Undercover went on sale on the Switch Eshop and I purchased it with some of my gold points, since it had been so long since I've last played through the game, I decided to go ahead and play through the game once again. Since it had been so long, I had forgotten all of the major story details.
And now that I've played through the story again, getting a refresher on the story in the progress, I was treated to Forrest Blackwell who ends up being one of those Twist Villains troupes. However, unlike Simon Keyes who is japan exclusive, Forrest Blackwell isn't. And in fact, there are a LOT of similarities between Cozy Glow and Forrest Blackwell.
First off, just like Cozy Glow, Forrest Blackwell is encountered twice before his big villain reveal in the final three chapters of the game. Not only has Chase Mcain; the game's protagonist; had two conversations with Forrest Blackwell up to this point, but both of these conversations also seem like the kind of conversations that just general people would have. The first coversation happens very early on in the game where Chase; while undercover in Chin Li's gang; happens to be Forrest Blackwell's driver. This conversation doesn't really reveal any criminal intent however there are hints to his true villainous nature if you pay attention to his speech patterns. And the second conversation that happens around mid-way through the game when Chase rescues Forrest Blackwell from a bunch of random thugs seemingly, the multi-billionaire once again offers zero criminal intent but does slip a few hints to his true villainous nature if you pay attention to his speech patterns just like the first time.
Not only are there these two conversations, but you are also given motive as well. Throughout the story, Chase will learn more and more about Forrest Blackwell and the various things that occurred while he was away from Lego City for two whole years, the big thing being that Forrest Blackwell had plans for a complex where the forest area of the game is, but due to a rare species of squirrels that lived there, the complex project was cancelled by the city itself. So not only are there hints to Forrest Blackwell being secretly evil, but unlike Cozy Glow, we are actually given a motive behind the billionaire's madness as well.
That's why the blog title is what it is: The player encounters Forrest Blackwell twice before the big reveal of Forrest Blackwell being the true evil mastermind behind the events of Lego City Undercover's overall story. And not only that, unlike Cozy Glow where we are given zero motive behind why she is the way she is, Forrest Blackwell has a motive: The entire City had rejected his appartment complex project because of a rare species of Squirrels. In fact, during the final level of the game, Forrest Blackwell specifically says and I quote "Like the city doesn't have enough squirrels" meaning that he didn't care about there being a rare squirrel in the forest area of Lego City just that there was land he could build on.
All of this makes Forrest Blackwell a better version of Cozy Glow by a long shot. Not only are there two moments in the story where he is encountered which mirror how Cozy Glow was only in two episodes prior to School Raze; both of those moments have hints to Forrest Blackwell's villainous nature and the billionaire; unlike the Pegasus filly everyone here loves to hate on; even has a motive behind his evil plan which is meant to take himself and Rex Fury; the villain of the 3DS Lego City Undercover's story; into space while burning the entirety of Lego City; INCLUDING THE VERY FOREST THAT HE WANTED TO BUILD AN APPARTMENT COMPLEX ON BY THE WAY; to ashes.
If all of this wasn't enough to convince you that Forrest Blackwell is essentially Cozy Glow done even better, then I guess I really am arguing against all the Cozy Glow hate against a brick wall.
Clever. I do see the similarities and pattern. And I do got the game on Xbox One.

Well if you haven't beaten the game's story mode yet, then I guess...consider this blog being spoilers for you.

I already watched the story/campaign on YouTube, when it first came out only on the Wii U a long time ago. ( But I don't have the Wii U. Only got the original Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360. )
Then, I finally got it on Xbox One, and played the whole thing myself.
I should have explained it thoroughly.

Yeah that wasn't very clear.
