Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today! This afternoon, I will be reviewing the 1999 sequel entitled Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me per the request of Akula966. Just like the previous movie, this was a sequel that I honestly hoped it would be good considering that I enjoyed the first movie even though it wasn't perfect or great. Just this morning, I was able to see this movie myself, and I gotta say......it was a disappointment. In my opinion, it lacked the tolerable essence from the first movie and contained several elements that really brought this movie down for me.

This time, Dr. Evil creates a time-traveling machine that will send him back in the 1960s to steal Austin Powers' mojo so he can take over the world without him getting in the way. Seeing this, Austin likewise has to travel back in time to stop Dr. Evil's master plan.

I'm sorry, but it was very hard for me to fully enjoy this movie. The jokes and the running gags got old pretty quickly and weren't that funny whatsoever. There were some scenes that made me slightly chuckle, but the dirty humor overall was just unfunny. Don't get me started with the repetitive penis jokes during the last ten minutes of the movie. Right after the dick-shaped rocket was launched into space, there were a lot of characters that used euphemisms and secondary names that referred to that joke. It got so annoying. And somehow, they felt less tolerable than they were in the first movie.

The one other thing that bothered me was that, in the beginning of the film, they outright got rid of Vanessa Kensington (from the last movie) by making a plot twist that she was a fembot all along. What?? There wasn't any hint that she was a robot in the last movie, and now she suddenly is? That is such bizarre writing in my opinion, and it somewhat ruined her character for no apparent reason. Then they replaced her with another sex appeal character for Austin Powers to bang. Such a ridiculous, random, nonsensical plot twist that was surprisingly never addressed again.

Even though the story was semi-straight-forward, it was bombarded with the time travel subplot, and the way it was executed was very questionable. When Dr. Evil went back to the past, how the hell did his subordinates know immediately he was from the future? Furthermore, Scott Evil was just a little annoying as a character; not to mention that Seth Green had the worst acting in this whole movie. If Scott really had the brains to do a much better job than his father, he would have taken the chance of killing him so he could take over his operations. But then again, he probably has less experience considering he's just a kid. Still, I couldn't take Seth Green's acting seriously whatsoever.

Oh, and Fat Bastard and Mini-Me were equally annoying characters that didn't need to exist. Enough said. So overall, I couldn't enjoy this movie. It has some decent acting (except Seth Green), a decent plot, but the humor was repetitive, the characters were annoying, the twists and turns didn't make sense, and the execution of the writing could have been so much better. This gets a 4/10. Here's hoping that the final film of the trilogy is an improvement.

Peace. At least Will Ferrell's character and Woody Harrelson made nice cameos in this movie.
