Greetings, everyone. This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content. I will now be reviewing the sixteenth episode of season 2 entitled: “Hollow Mind”. My, my, my this episode was the embodiment of shock, pain, and trauma altogether. Here we have Luz and Hunter get accidentally trap in the Emperor’s mind where they find themselves in a vast mindscape. Little did they know they’re in for some horrifying nightmares. To be honest, this episode made me depressed after watching it...mostly because of Hunter. I feel absolutely sorry that he had to put up with a monstrous sociopath of an “uncle” during all his life. My poor baby...

Zeno Robinson put a lot of vocal effort in giving him those panic attacks and terrified voice at the end. Hunter now knows the dark truth of Belos—the very one whom he looked up to as his only father figure and trusted guardian. Everything he knew and everything he stood for was all a lie. He sees that he has no one to go to now, and that Belos is out to kill him. This is what happens when you have a murderous tyrant as a parental figure and you as a disposable object that can be destroyed for less. It takes one bad day to turn a proud Golden Guard into a traumatized sad boy. So it turns out he is a Grimwalker after all.

This episode reveals so much about Belos being a witch hunter all this time—considering he was Philip Wittebane before—and his lies about the Titan and wild magic for the sole purpose of rising to power and reaching his goal for the Day of Unity. In my opinion, he turns out to be ten times worse than King Andrias from Amphibia. Belos is not sympathetic or tragic whatsoever; he is an unrepentant monster with a twisted sense of morality and tyrannical tendencies. Wow, Dana, you have succeeded in making him a fantastic Disney villain whom Bill Cipher would be proud of and whom Judge Claude Frollo would be both impressed and appalled by.

Speaking of which, the Collector literally gave off Bill Cipher vibes during his secondary appearance in this show. It makes me very eager to see him again later in the season finale since he can’t wait to spread whatever soft of crazy chaos he has in mind during the Day of Unity.

So yeah, this episode gave us so much emotional pain. It hurt me in a much more impactful way than did episode 14 “Reaching Out”. This sadly gets an A. Yes, I say “sadly” because Hunter is hurting right now and needs a real family who deeply cares for him. Now I truly wonder when we’ll see him again before the season finale.

Peace.

So yeah, this episode gave us so much emotional pain.

And of course easily being the darkest episode in this season so far.
