So I decided to splurge a bit and bought the entire "Gunsmoke" series on DVD and I have to say it was money well spent. over 630 episodes of a show that ran for 20 years and I can see why. The acting is great all around and James Arness' Matt Dillon is one of my favorite characters in television history as well as Amanda Blake's Kitty Russell. The show tackles some serious stories that I wasn't even aware they could touch on back in the day and the shows run is filled with recognizable names including Charles Bronson, Joe Don Baker, Yaphet Kotto, Ricardo Montalban and even a young , pre-Star Wars Harrison Ford in several episodes. Honestly I think a lot of shows today could learn a lot from Gunsmoke. I still have a ton of episodes to watch from seasons 1-12 as I've heard that some of the shows best were from that era. Guess I'll find out. Funny that I only started watching it by accident and it's quickly become a personal favorite.
Hey, glad to hear you're having fun.
(My dad's a huge fan of Gunsmoke. He'll be happy to know there are people who still are engaging with it in some way, I bet. XD)
While I mostly knew about Matt Dillon and Miss Kitty, it's a pleasant surprise to hear about some of the other performers who were on the show. Cool!
