Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content! Tonight, I will be reviewing the sixth episode of season 2 entitled: “Hunting Palismen”. Ladies and gentlemen, this is yet another one of my favorite episodes of this season so far as my third favorite character of the series reappears once more but with a much more dramatic turn of events. At first, he is his usual cocky, sassy self until his face is finally revealed for the first time and we see just how...broken and sad he really is. So here are my reasons why Hunter is one of my favorite characters in the show:

Underneath that golden mask, there lies a young man who is emotionally broken, tired, scarred, and depressed who uses his Golden Guard personality to hide who he really is. He even looks like he hasn’t slept in three years straight. To me, he is someone who is much deserving of happiness and in need of someone who can be his true friend and who can be by his side in every step of the way. His so-called Uncle Belos only cares about him because he is a necessary element for his plans for this “Day of Unity” thing, not because he actually loves him as his own relative. Hunter has so much potential to be a better person and to live a life of his own. I just feel so bad for him, and I want him to have a happy ending before the series is over. To some degree, I can relate to him in certain areas. He’s my boy...he surely needs a smile. 🃏

Anyway, this episode shows us that Belos is also affected by the curse of wild magic and tries to live off of the life force of every palisman he finds. Thus, he orders Hunter to find more of them in order to survive through the pain.

This was both fun and amazing to watch as both Luz and Hunter cross paths again and interact in a way that they never have before. Because of this adventure, I consider their dynamic relationship as frenemies at best. In my opinion, they have no potential to be siblings. I just don’t see that happening, and it irritates me that people see them as such despite the fact they don’t see each other that way. Also, why the hell is Hunter being shipped with everyone? Is he becoming the Marco Diaz of The Owl House now? When will people realize that having a significant other does not automatically make a person happy with their life? Hunter is somebody who doesn’t need a girlfriend or boyfriend to be happy because he appears to be someone who just wants to be alone. He has his little birdie palisman as his real friend, and that’s more than enough for him. Just my opinion.

Lastly, it was pretty cool to see Kikimora have some sort of rivalry with Hunter in competing for Belos’s approval. That shows that she has her own agenda that she desperately wants to make into reality. I can’t wait to see what they do with her later in the season. So, yeah, this episode gets an A for sure! I hope for the best to happen to Hunter!

Peace!
