Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content! This evening, I will be reviewing the third episode of season 2 entitled: “Echoes of the Past”. This episode was very emotional to be honest; I mean, both the characters of Eda and King (especially the latter) were given tremendously well-written backstories that explain how exactly they first met and how they came together. In this episode, we see how King developed his Napoleon-complex personality and what made him think he was some tyrannical overlord.

I loved what they did with him in this episode. Not only is he given an extra layer of character and background but also is made more sympathetic in the process. Alex Hirsch did an excellent job in this particular episode because we can see King’s emotional breakdown once he learns the hard truth of his past and that he was never a king in his life. His pained cries, the tears, the agony in not accepting the truth right away—just so much that conveys King’s feelings. The writing is top-notch in this.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed the developing bond between Hooty and Lilith. The more they exchange dialogue and laugh together, the more it makes me smile.

Man, these episodes just get better and better in this season especially! This episode in particular has become one of my favorite King-centered episodes because of the backstory they provided him and the emotional character development he went through. This shows us that no matter how painful the truth may be, honesty is always important to keep the family closer together. This easily gets an A! Again, Alex Hirsch surely had a lot of fun in voicing King and Hooty than usual in this episode, I’m sure.

Peace!

For sure =3

I mean after all... Alex Hirsch is such a great voice actor. (In addition to being a show creator, when he was the one that created Gravity Falls. X3) X3

Yes, and being the voice of Grunkle Stan, Soos, Bill Cipher, and more.
