Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content! This evening, I will be reviewing the nineteenth and final episode of the first season entitled: "Young Blood, Old Souls". This was yet another intense episode which served as an epic conclusion of the season and paved the way for the opening of the second season. Just like with the first part of the finale, this was also full of intense scenes and amazing character development. We also finally see Luz and Belos duke it out for the first time as the former determines to rescue Eda from being destroyed while in her cursed form.

I especially enjoyed seeing Lilith get some redeemable moments prior to her reunion with Eda (thanks to Belos capturing her and putting her in the same cage with Eda. The sad thing is that some of us don't even realize that the path we're walking in will lead us to trouble one day as was the case with Lilith. Because she was clouded with anger as a kid since Eda had everything and got more attention than she did, she never considered the consequences until now. Thus, she later decides to share Eda's curse. That was an act of love and sacrifice. She made up for her grave mistake and desired to share it with her. That made me love her a lot more than before.

Once again, Belos displayed just how psychologically manipulative and powerful he is especially when he fought with Luz for the first time. Of course, he was simply toying with her. However, he cuts it short by demanding her to hand over the portal to the human realm lest Eda's time runs out. With no option left (because she is in a no-win situation), she hands it over to him......only to then destroy it with the spell glyph she left on.

That was pretty cool and all, but how come we don't even see it until it's suddenly there in the next shot? That was clearly an animation error because that glyph wasn't even on there at all when she handed it over to him! That is what happens when you rely on the power of plot convenience. Aside from that, that proved just how serious Luz was this time. When an optimistic, joyful girl gets serious and angry with a villain like that, that's when you know you're watching an intense moment.

Overall, this was an epic way to end the season and the perfect opening gateway for the second season. Now she has to look for ways to get back home to earth and see her poor mother again while coping with the results in the Boiling Isles. This gets an A-! This was a pretty great season, and I don't normally see many cartoon shows that have their first season to be this watchable and highly entertaining. Again, Dana Terrace and her team gave it their all when writing these episodes albeit with a few flaws here and there. I look forward to begin reviewing season 2 starting on Wednesday!

Peace!
