Creative Burnout Sucks · 5:35pm Feb 14th, 2022
It's been a while, hasn't it?
Once again, I'm really sorry that the next chapter of Paradise Found hasn't shown up. I *have* worked on it in fits and starts, but it continues to fight me. I have a general idea of how I want the chapter to go, but I'm struggling to get the words to come together in a way that meets the high standards I set for myself in previous chapters.
On top of that, I think creative burnout has set in. I haven't submitted a completed chapter for Dancing With Fire since last December, and my drive to write in general has pretty much evaporated. Been spending all my downtime either gaming or reading other people's fics.
I'm sure the spark will come back eventually, but I couldn't tell you when that will happen. The next chapter of Paradise Found is about 55% written, by my own estimate. I know you'll love it, but I have no clue how to get myself to actually do it.
To the one devoted fan who PMs me every few weeks asking when it will come out, I'm especially sorry. It makes me really happy that someone loves my fic this much, and I agree it fills a niche that was lacking on this site. Feels like I'm letting you in particular down, and I don't like that feeling.
I won't mark the story as In Hiatus just yet, as I have every intention of finishing this chapter that continues to fight me. Too many writing projects over the years have gone abandoned, and the last thing I want is for this one to join the rest. That, I promise, won't happen.
Please don't worry. I really want to see the next chapter but I want you to write it when this creative burnout ends since everything ends up better when we're in the mood for it, ok? I think you should go have fun with something and when you eventually get the drive to write again then you continue writing the story. I too really don't want this amazing fanfic to stop in the middle like many other fanfics I was having so much fun reading but never got a proper ending, so stop demanding so much of yourself, will you? I think this happens many times due to the pressure the writer receives from the fans demanding the next chapter as soon as possible and I don't want the same to happen to you, so know that I at least will wait patiently for the next chapter.
