HOLY SHIT CHECK THIS OUT! · 10:27pm Jan 30th, 2022
Guys! A friend of mine on discord sent me link to a video that I should check out and….see for yourself.
You know what this means!? Warp travel is at least in concept POSSIBLE! Like OMG WE MAY BE APPROACHING A HISTORICAL EVENT NOT SEEN SINCE THE MOON LANDINGS!
Tell everyone your friends, family and who else you could think of because this is BIG!
As someone who grew up watching Star Trek and Star Wars, I can say this would be a happy moment to see realized in my life-time. My optimistic/inner child says to go forward full-steam ahead, but my more logical side has some reservations.
I am actually familiar with Miguel Alcubierre's Torsion Bubble, I came across it in my own independent searches about FTL (Faster Than Light) travel. While I have not read his paper, I understood the concept of his idea to shrink and expand space-time to "push" a ship to their destination. What I gleamed from Alcubierre's description, he was talking about using something like the mysterious "Dark Matter" the name of the observed force currently propelling stars, solar systems, and galaxies away from each other at FTL speeds and had a negative density. I believe Dark Matter is the particular exotic matter referred to in the video. And now Dr. White comes along and discovers a way to create something with negative density needed for such a warp engine. My concerns are how they described it appearing on the nano-scale level.
Some years back I had heard of material that could bend light around it, bringing up possible applications of invisible cloaks or clothing. But they were having trouble up-scaling those properties into anything big enough to use, and so they got stuck making no headway.
I am worried that is what will happen here, that we have, once again, been given a taste of the space exploring future only to realize we can't take a bite.

If you don’t have a positive thing to say…..then don’t drag the whole thing down!

Sorry, wasn't my intention. I'd like this to work as much as you do.
