Yet Another Reason to Love Seto Kaiba · 7:57pm Oct 9th, 2021
Not everybody can write a check for $500K and just drive off with the car without having to do any paperwork. Kaiba has always been a badass, and he will always be my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh character
Wish he understood friendship.

Agreed, although at one point, he did show respect to Joey for surviving Ra's attack, even saying that in his death, he'll acknowledge him as a true duelist. This was the original, in the dub he was just sent to the Shadow Realm, but Seto still showed respect for the fact that his will to win was stronger than the power of a God Card

What I don't understand is why he denied magic for so long.
5593667
He's an inventor, most people who invent high-tech devices don't believe in magic, and they try to come up with a logical explanation, and for Kaiba, that was often saying he's hallucinating or that there's a glitch in the holograms

I have a scientific mind, but I believe in a higher power.
5593673
Well, at least he started believing in the end

Funny thing, I remember in Season 0, Kaiba actually came to Yugi's defense, but only because he didn't want Yugi to lose to anyone but him. And when Yugi lost to Raphael, Kaiba looked hurt, like Yugi was cheating on him

Irony.
You should see the abridged version of this, it's hilarious!

I did, he writes it so that Joey is paying for the car. Although TBH, I'm pretty sure Joey could have afforded it because Yugi gave him the $3 million prize money from Duelist Kingdom to help him pay for the surgery his sister needed to avoid going blind

Yeah, but in Season 0, Kaiba came to Yugi's defense, not Yami Yugi, Yugi was losing a duel, and Kaiba, green hair and money comes in and wins the duel, even when he gives the other duelist a card that gives them an advantage, yet they lose when Kaiba summons his second Blue-Eyes and the two Blue-Eyes combined defeat the opponent's monster. Season 0 was messed up at times, and the Abridged Season 0 made things even more sexual and dark. I mean, in the first episode of Season 0, Solomon Moto comments on Tea's chest size, acting like it's nothing weird for an old man to talk about a high school student's chest size. And it gets even more profound in the Abridged version

The only reason why Kaiba helped Yugi in that season was for self-preservation.

Yeah, Kaiba has always been stubborn in the fact that the only one who Yugi should be allowed to lose against is him. Before Yugi defeated him with Exodia, he was considered the best in the world, and he wants nothing more than to defeat Yugi and reclaim his status as the world's best Duel Monsters player. I mean, he even dropped out of the Duelist Kingdom tournament when he lost to Yugi. And when Yugi is facing 'Ghost Kaiba' the real Kaiba even helps Yugi win by hacking into Pegasus's computers and causing Ghost Kaiba's Blue-Eyes to get weaker by the second, since without Exodia, Yugi doesn't have any cards that could defeat a Blue-Eyes White Dragon, which at the time, was the strongest monster with 3000 ATK. The early anime was weird though, it included things that aren't how the cards work in the trading card game. In the anime, Toon Monsters start as their normal card, but when Toon World is on the field, normal monsters turn into Toon Monsters, which isn't how Toon World works IRL

At least Toon monsters are funny.
