This Day In History: September 2nd, 2001; Adult Swim's Official Launch

Yes you read that right. On September 2nd, 2001 the programming block for mature audiences (18+) that aired for a few hours on Cartoon Network at night is now 20. I genuinely forgot that I'm the same age as the Toonami block, but older than the Adult Swim block. Funny how that works out isn't it? Anyways, here's an old promo bumper for Adult Swim from late August 2001.

And yes. The Toonami block was launched in 1997. It's now 24 and I still remember finding anime on Cartoon Network in the afternoons sometimes, instead of what is now relegated to Saturday Nights with beer and junk food.
