Greetings to you all! This is Mr. J back with another movie review! Time to give the spotlight to one of DreamWorks best animated films: Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. This was yet another one of those animated movies I’ve both cherished and enjoyed from childhood as I loved the fantastic story, characters, and animation. I remember how I was actually attracted to some of its characters whom I will mention in this review and how I loved the blending of the animated and CGI models that makes these films so beautiful and watchable. Seriously, DreamWorks is the king of gorgeous animation, and I have no regrets in saying that.

Here we have the story of a cunning thief (voiced by Brad Pitt) who is framed by a mischievous goddess of stealing the Book of Peace from the Kingdom of Syracuse and must travel to the ends of the Earth facing all sorts of dangerous creatures in order to save the life of his best friend from taking the punishment in his place. Our main character, Sinbad, was really interesting to look at. A common thief who undergoes a process of redemption through eventful circumstances in a daring adventure? That really made this story intriguing!

The choreography and animation looks absolutely splendid as usual. I will never stop admiring and appreciating how DreamWorks does such an excellent job making most of their films so visually appealing. The setting of the story and the colorful background were likewise well-done.

The comedy was well-timed and, at times, funny. However, there are a few adult jokes here and there that will definitely fly over the heads of children who may watch this. Plus, the sexual innuendo displayed during the sirens scene may not be suitable to children. Nonetheless, the humor was alright as well as the good voice acting.

The chemistry and relationship between Sinbad and Marina was well-established and had a natural flow through it all. It didn’t feel rushed or forced as they were at each other’s throats at first. Overtime, they had to warm up to the other and get used to each other’s personality and way of thinking. To me, it was a sign of good writing and careful character development.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the villainess of the movie? Eris was both awesome, hot, and well-written. Not only did she manipulate her adversaries and set up life-threatening challenges to our heroes but she also used every opportunity to break the spirit of Sinbad and tried comparing him to her in light of all his mistakes and sins. Especially since she is a powerful goddess, she made one heck of an impression on how a manipulative, sadistic antagonist is supposed to be portrayed. In fact, she is one of the few villains whom I was introduced to when I was a kid, and she always stood out to me ever since then. Props to Michelle Pfeiffer giving such a wonderful vocal performance as Eris.

The other characters were likewise very interesting to watch on screen, my favorites being Marina, Rat, Kale, Proteus, and some of those creatures Eris sent... just for their awesome CGI designs. Marina and Eris were amongst my childhood cartoon crushes while growing up.

Overall, this film is a wonderful piece of art and deserves every right to be among DreamWorks’ best animated films of all time. With that, I will rate this a mighty 10/10!

Peace!

One of Dreamworks’s best films.

I know that this was their last hand-drawn animated film to date due to its underperformance at the box office, but...I deeply hope they make a new hand-drawn animated film at some point rather than always make ones that are computer-animated.

I feel like nobody talks about the amazing and beautiful 2d animation Dreamworks does. Spirit, Prince of Egypt, this movie... Plus, Kung Fu Panda also meshes 2d and 3d animation way before Disney did that (I could be wrong though :twilightblush:), which is why it´s my favourite Dreamworks 3d movie .

As for this film, it´s been so so long since I last watched that I don´t remember what happened but I love Eris.

By the way, did you watch Road to El Dorado?

Yeah, I remember watching that film years ago when I was a kid. I just rewatched El Dorado last night coincidentally.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the villainess of the movie? Eris was both awesome, hot, and well-written.

I agree. Eris is an awesome antagonist, and one of the most compelling too. Plus, Michelle Pfeiffer gave a spectacular performance as the character, and her role in this film is one of the reasons as to why she's one of my favorite actresses.

:ajsmug:You're not the only one with a crush on Eris either, I'll tell you that.

Ha! What a coincidence :rainbowlaugh:
