Hey, guys. I am back with yet another Disney direct-to-video sequel to review. This time, I will be covering what I find to be the most unnecessary, repulsive, and most infuriating sequel I have ever laid my eyes on: The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. As you all know, the first film will always have a place in my heart as it is my second favorite Disney film of all time. So seeing this monstrosity of a successor made me appreciate the original film even more. I’ve always asked this question in regards to this beast: Why did it have to exist? In fact, why does it exist at all? Did anybody even ask for this?

First off, words cannot express how much I despise this film’s animation. Oh my goodness, it just looks so generic, cheap-looking, and downright hideous to even behold. But it’s not just the animation I hate but also the script and the characters thereof. Yes, even the returning characters were cringe in this film. Despite the fact that the original voice actors reprised their roles as their characters and tried to do their best, they still weren’t enough to save this mediocrity from being a total mess.

Bradley Raymond, just why did you create this movie? Quasimodo was perfectly happy on his own when he sacrificed himself to the friend zone—allowing Esmeralda and Phoebus to be married at the end of the first film. But now he has a love interest whom we’ve never seen before? Come on, man! At least The Jungle Book (1967) had the decency to introduce Shanti at the end thereof only to become a really good character in the 2003 sequel. For Madellaine, she was just a poorly written character just existing to be a means of being a love interest for our hero and being a means through which the villain could achieve his goal.

Speaking of which, Sarousch was one of the most annoying villains I’ve ever seen in an animated film. This guy—this wannabe antagonist—is nowhere... not even CLOSE to being as threatening, menacing, and wonderfully entertaining as Frollo. Sarousch was a joke... a stupid joke that is neither clever nor funny. Plus, all he wanted was some stupid bell from Notre Dame? That’s it?? Ugh, I hate this character.

The story was absolutely boring and unenjoyable as ever. Not to mention that the music by Carl Johnson is unappealing and below average in comparison to the legendary music by Alan Menken from the original film.

Overall, this film was just a bore fest to sit through, and I do not recommend this worthless garbage to anyone out there who is a fan of classic Disney films. I give this a 0/10.

Peace.

The sequels are rarely good.

Although I liked that Quasi got a love interest, this movie is still really bad. In case you didn´t know the reason why the animation looks bad it´s because it´s from another Disney studio (Disneytoons I think its name was?) not Walt Disney Animation Studios, so it´s expected that it had such a low budget.
For me, the worst sequel was Pocahontas II, urgh how I wanted to throw that movie through the window :rainbowlaugh: (even though thank god I didn´t have it)

By the way, I see that you reviewed many Disney and other interesting films, but I couldn´t comment on them because I was busy. So could I comment on them even though it´s a bit late? :twilightblush:

I remember catching a glimpse of this movie one time when I was in public school, as well as seeing various trailers for it. In retrospect, I hardly remember anything about it other than Madellaine and some certain scenes.
