Greetings, everyone! Welcome back to another MCU movie review of mine! This time, we will be talking about Marvel Studios' Captain America: The First Avenger. Back in 2011, this was indeed the very film that introduced me to the titular character although I was never really a big fan of him. I remember watching this movie alongside my dad going all the way back to the same year when I was younger. Over the years, however, I forgot almost everything that happened in this film since I never really cared much about it. It wasn't until late last year or so that I thought back on the movie and wanted to re-watch it again to see if it was good as I remember. Thus, just a few months ago, I re-watched it the second time and saw what I didn't remember and what I did remember. As I am now writing this, I can definitely say that it is just as good and entertaining as it was years ago, but it really isn't that great at the same time.

We see our main character living during World War II in a fierce battle against the Nazis and our main villain, Johann Schmidt. As someone who actually loves the sequels The Winter Soldier and Civil War, Steve Rogers was really good in this film as always as we see his origins in how he became the Captain America we know and love. Chris Evans, brilliant job there! I can finally see where he picked up his famous catchphrase, "I can do this all day." Plus, his heroism, his courage, his steadfastness, and his strong capabilities were still top-notch.

The visual effects and CGI were decently serviceable, the cinematography was great, and the acting was good enough. However, there were some scenes in the film that were a bit cringe-worthy and boring, but everything else was not too bad though.

It was really nice seeing Bucky Barnes' friendship with Rogers though as it was really bittersweet for me, considering what happens later in the movie and what he eventually becomes in The Winter Soldier (obviously by the very title). Can you even imagine if Steve Rogers never even lost Bucky in the first place? Just think about it: if he actually did everything he could to protect him, there would be no Winter Soldier and that film would play out differently. I can't help but think about it.

As for Johann Schmidt/Red Skull, I think he was an intriguing villain in this movie. He may not be Thanos-levels of perfection or awesomeness, but he was still really interesting in terms of his intelligence, cunning, ruthlessness, and no-nonsense attitude. Hugo Weaving was great as the Red Skull throughout this film. I am just surprised that Ross Marquand was able to perfectly mimic Hugo Weaving's Red Skull in Infinity War which made me think that was Weaving.

Also, I liked Stanley Tucci's character Dr. Abraham Erskine. It was nice seeing him as a good father/mentor figure for Rogers until he was brutally murdered later in the film. That was really sad.

In conclusion, Captain America: The First Avenger was a really good and entertaining film in regards to the action, fight scenes, story, and character development although it is nowhere as good as the two later CA films. Therefore, I give this a 7/10.

Thanks for reading this, and stay tuned for a special Disney movie review this Friday!

See you later!

I definitely need a new tablet.

This movie, along with “Captain Marvel”, are the MCU movies I have in mind to review first at some point in the future. Mainly because they take place before the other films.
