Greetings to you, lovely viewers! This is TheClownPrinceofCrime aka Mr. J back once again with another review for tonight! This time, I will be reviewing yet another forgotten and underrated animated film: Ferngully: The Last Rainforest. I remember watching this film going all the way back in Kindergarten in Brooklyn in an auditorium with many kids for the first time. Ever since that time, I barely remember anything that happened in all of this except for one major character who was voiced by the late Robin Williams named Batty Koda. He was the only thing I remembered from this film over the years.

Well, I was just thinking back on this movie many years later and thought about giving it another watch just to see if this was good as I remember when I was a child. So recently, I watched this movie online; as a much older guy now, there were many parts I did not remember and one thing I did remember... Batty Koda. To be honest, this movie is actually decent but not as good as I remembered. To be fair, it had its ups and downs throughout the film. Let me just state the positives first, shall we?

Positives:

Right off the bat (pun intended), Koda was one of the best parts of the movie not only because he was voiced by Robin Williams but also that he had a hilarious personality, full of humor, sensitivity in a literal way, and very amusing as a comedic character. He stole every scene he was in and made me chuckle every time. I honestly wish Robin was still alive today to fill our hearts with joy and laughter. :fluttercry:

The other character I enjoyed in this movie was the main antagonist:

Hexxus was absolutely a wonderful villain who had full of menacing humor, wicked cunning, sly mannerisms, sneakiness, and cold sadism. The moment I heard his distinctive voice, that's when I knew that was Tim Curry. That guy knows how to make his villains very charming and delightful to hear and watch. Hexxus is now become my third favorite Tim Curry role. I was annoyed that he had limited screen time and dialogue.

I actually liked the moral this movie was going for: we need to stop harming the earth by wrecking havoc to its environment, nature, and creatures such as unnecessarily cutting down all those trees and start caring more for them and be mindful of the impact they have on our lives and our way of being. As someone who highly loves nature and loves being outside to enjoy its atmosphere, I approve of the message they conveyed. 👍

Negatives

As for the negatives, they are not too serious but they're still worth noting. I was really annoyed by other main characters mainly Crysta and Zak. Their romantic chemistry was incredibly cringe-fest and bland, their relationship was underdeveloped, and their characteristics were so unbearable. Zak was worse for me personally; I mean, I could not stand watching him because of his generic personality. That's all I can say of those two.

The animation is good, but the story was lacking in some areas mostly because it was kinda slow. Not to mention that the romance subplot was dragging the plot down and made it so boring to sit through. Other than that, the story was still simple enough to follow through it all.

In conclusion, Ferngully: The Last Rainforest is wholly decent in terms of the basic storyline, the humor, the villain, and the moral, but it suffered a lot from the poorly written characters and romance subplot. With that said, I will give this movie a strong 6/10. Is it the type of movie I would watch again? Eh, not exactly, but I would watch it only for the Hexxus and Batty Koda scenes and that's it.

Peace!

When two famous icons come together in a movie. I'm talking about comedy legend Robin Williams and villainous singer Tim Curry!

5 out of 5 stars for me. In my opinion, everything about it was awesome with a capital ‘A’.

What I want is a FernGully story on here.
