    The Best CMC Story

There's a series of six chapter books known as Ponyville Mysteries. I highly recommend them, and they even fit the Nightmare Night atmosphere! They have characters staring into the face of death, and lore, and an overarching plotline. It's the CMC at their best.

That's all I've got to say right now.

    A Confession...

I hadn't watched most of season 8 or any of season 9 until a few weeks ago, nor any of G5 until this week, due to horrible anxiety. (Yes, anxiety about watching a tv show I want to watch. My brain is messed up.) So in no particular order, I need to get out some thoughts.

    Spike's Magic

I'm watching through the show again, and noticed a lore thing that I thought was worth making note of. In Spike at Your Service (yes, that horrible episode where Spike is depicted as clumsy and incapable of things like cooking and cleaning that he's been shown to be skilled at in most other episodes), Spike has this personal "Spike the Dragon Code" card. But what's interesting is where it

    Isn't It Funny...

...When you're just looking at the latest stories, and suddenly there's a propagandist promotion of an extremist who advocates against democracy and openly admires the worst dictator in history in the description of what you naively thought was a shipping story?

...When an avowed Communist asks for money as though that isn't inherently hypocritical?

For Those Who Are Curious About What I've Been Planning... · 7:33pm Dec 2nd, 2012

This will be a ridiculously long post, because I'm using it as a way to form coherent plans about the future, and simply organize my ideas.

First up, I shall now list all of my story ideas, just because. In no particular order, they are:

Working Title/type of story/short description/Notes

Equilibrium/human,comedy,adventure/Two universes spring a leak, on one side, humans begin turning into ponies, on the other, ponies into humans/First mlp story idea I came up with, has a couple pages written, and two side stories floating around in my head.

Travels With the Doctor, Or: How the Timepony Tied My Life Into a Knot/human,adventure,slice of life/The Doctor's, and his companions', adventures in Equestria/My own take on Doctor Whooves, I've done a ton of timelining, but very little actual writting.

Land of the Gods/adventure/Celestia and Luna's family begins to wake up, and the mane six have to help maintain order/I was wondering once what the princess' family would be like, and I ended up constructed an entire mythology. It's just an idea at this point.

Induced Psychosis/human,slice of life,adventure/A pony finds that his life isn't what it seems/It's a very vague description because saying any more would be major spoilers. I have the first couple of pages written, and decided to throw this into the same continuum as Land of the Gods.

Area 51/human,slice of life/The U.S. government admits, to the elation of conspiracy theorists, that Area 51 holds a great secret. An independent reporter is selected to be let inside so as to write a story that will be given to all news outlets/A shorter story, at least in my plans of it. Nothing hs been written, but it is pretty well planned out.

A Game with Gods/adventure,dark/The mane six find themselves in another world, in bodies that are counterpart to their own, and must find a way back, while their counterparts face a similar situation in Ponyville/This story, despite its appearence, takes place entirely inside the mlp universe, with no humans or crossovers involved. I've planned five "books" for this story, but haven't written anything.

Generations of Harmony/adventure,comedy,dark,slice of life, sad, alternate universe/The mane six were not first to bare the elements, nor will they be the last/Actually nine destict stories in both the past and the future in comparison to the show, including such things as Celestia and Luna's defeat of Discord, Luna's corruption and banishment, the thousand years between Luna's banishment and return, an eleven arc story involving the ten main characters from the show (mane six, CMC, Spike), and a couple of stories involving the next elements of harmony. Lots of stuff planned out, but not much written. This may be the one I'm most attached to.

Kings, Dictators, and Presidents/comedy,alternate universe/Celestia sees that the counties of Earth don't get along, and so decides to host the next meeting of the United Nations in Equestria/A one shot I've thought about writting, but never gotten around to.

Remember Who?/comedy/Applejack is thinking about her lost parents as she walks in on Twilight practicing a spell. Soon, ponies begin to disappear, but only Applejack can remember them ever existing/A one shot idea I got when watching a certain episode of a certain show. Just an idea for now.

The One With No Working Title/sad,slice of life/ /I had the idea a while back to write a short story based on one of my favorite songs: Piano Man. A couple of days later, someone posts a story based on the same song. Since I don't want to be accused of stealing ideas, I may not write it now. Or I may. I don't know.

The Meeting of the Orphans(actual title)/dark,adventure/The least important ponies end up in a position to change the future of Equestria/The most recent idea I have, and the one I will try to focus on for the time being.

Next, I've decided to define "changeling". I plan on posting this with any story I write which has changelings.

As 100 different people have 100 different ideas on various aspects of the changelings, and I myself in fact switch between ideas based on the story I’m trying to write, I have decided to define what the changelings are in any story I happen to be working on. I may leave one or more parameters out if revelations about them are central to the story I am using this with. Some of these may be obvious, but it amazes me sometimes how much disagreement there is on so called obvious things.

1. Changelings are organized as a(n)
hive, with different types of workers and a queen who is mother of all
conventional society, where the queen is simply in charge
other

2. Changelings feed on love because it
sustains them
gives them power
gives them the illusion of power
is delicious
other

3. Changelings can feed on
all emotions, but love is more powerful
all emotions, but love tastes best
all emotions equally
select emotions
only love

4. Changelings can digest
plant matter
animal matter
both
neither
other

5. If changelings eat conventional food it
sustains them
sustains them physically, but they still need love
does not sustain them

6. Changelings need regular food
if they don’t get love
in addition to love
they don’t

7. Changelings are immortal:
yes, all of them
just the queen
no, none of them

8. Changelings are capable of independent thought:
just the queen/a select few
all of them to a severely limited extent
all of them to a limited extent, can be increased in extenuating circumstances
all of them, they are individuals

9. Changelings communicate telepathically:
yes, all changelings, all the time
yes, limited by distance and/or power
no

10. The holes in a changeling’s legs are
signs of starvation
decorative
used to sense and/or absorb emotions
for aerodynamics
to store excess matter when changing size
binoculars
other

11. Changelings can feel emotions
all types, towards all creatures
all types, but only towards other changelings
only certain types, towards all creatures
only certain types, and only towards other changelings
they can’t

12. Changelings:
are genderless except for the queen
have genders, and assigned gender roles in the hive
have genders, but it doesn’t decide their place in the hive

13. When changelings shape shift, they
are generally limited to what they can see
can construct forms from memory and make them up

14. When changelings shape shift, they are limited to
pony forms
forms that are somewhat equine
quadrupedal forms
animals
no limit

15. When changelings shape shift, changing size
is not an issue
is more difficult the bigger the change
has set upper and lower limits

16. When changelings shape shift, changing size involves
the changing of mass
the illusion of the changing of mass

17. When changelings take the form of another pony, they
remain limited to their own skills
obtain the physical abilities of the target
obtain the physical abilities and the skills of the target

I probably think this is much more interesting then it actually is, but anyone else is free to use it that wants to. If you don't plan on using it to inform readers about the changelings in your story, it's still useful as a thought organizer.

Well, I'm going to go reorganize my user page now, and then hopefully write the next chapter of Orphans.

As the winds shift, so do our lives, but as the winds may shift back, so may we meet again.
