Hey, guys. Tonight, I will be reviewing a prequel film of the original Monsters Inc. which is entitled Monsters University. Ugh, I really don’t understand why this film even needed to exist. Did Pixar not have any ideas on how to expand the story the first movie brought out? I don’t think it ever needed a prequel or if anybody actually asked for a prequel. Personally, I think they should have just left it alone and neither make a prequel or a sequel for it. So as far as this one is concerned, it was completely average at best and boring at worst. I won’t even go into detail why I think this story was so needless.

While I was pleased with the fact they got the original voice actors for Mike, Sullivan, and Randall, they were not enough to save this film from being such a mind-dulling boredom. Not to mention how that the story failed to grasp my attention and engage with its characters faithfully.

Our protagonists actually met at a university? Okay... I can understand that... but... then at the end of the film... they were expelled from the university due to their reckless behavior and dishonesty RIGHT BEFORE they found their way to apply for a job at Monsters Inc itself. I’m sorry, but that is complete bull. To me, it is a very harmful message to send to kids that if you fail at college, high school, or in any other school, it won’t even matter because you’ll just get lucky enough in applying for a job anyway. No, that is not how it works in real life. Your life’s success crucially depends on your proper education and your adherence to lessons in daily life. Otherwise, you won’t be prepared for life.

This movie is just not for me. Although I do have to admit that there were a few funny moments here and there, but the other jokes were barely funny and were very forgettable. It was nice to see how Randall became very envious and hateful towards Mike over the years... except it seemed very petty rather than sensical. Sorry, Pixar, I am not buying it.

The animation was alright and the character development wasn’t too bad, but I really wish they didn’t mess up the story. Not only was it boring and generic but also toxic and unnecessary. They should have just left it alone. I wanted to give this a 5/10, but it now gets a 3/10 instead. The ending is the reason of the change of score. I have nothing else to say about this garbage.

Peace.

You know, there's one positive you should point out.

But would you agree that those two prove that hard work equals great rewards?

I would agree to that if the movie actually tried to convey that message instead of derailing it. They didn’t even try to look for another school to improve their education but instead just when on ahead like it was nothing. Yes, they tried their best, but one MUST look for other ways to improve their learning.

Hmmm, you make a very good argument.

Maybe it's just me, but I've hardly seen the benefits of going to college at all. Based on accounts I heard from people close to me, it's apparently like doing an elementary school all over again despite having graduated. Ultimately, that was why I decided not to go to college, because I don't think it's for me. That, and I believe it would be a complete waste of both my time and my life, especially considering what most college units have become in this day and age.

That’s your choice and your calling. But not all colleges are like that based on my experience.

Plus, you have to agree that education is very important in order to make our lives simple, adjustable, and worth living. However, it all depends on which environment you have your education and how you use it.

I do agree that education is a vital to having a good life. But, college isn't necessarily the only way to get a job nor the only way to get an education.

That’s not what I am saying. Don’t put words into my mouth.

My point is that kids should never be lazy when it comes to education, and IF they choose to go to college, they must put all their effort in attaining to their academic goals. If that doesn’t work, they must look for other ways to complete their education and not give up.

Do you understand that? That’s all I’m saying.
