Good evening, little princes. Tonight marks my conclusion of the Cinderella trilogy. I will be talking about my thoughts on the third installment of the series: Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time. Just like with Thor: Ragnarok, the third movie has proven itself to be a massive improvement over the last two boring, forgettable films. Although it does have moments of cheesy, cringeworthy dialogue and humor, it is still better than the first two movies. I particularly enjoyed most of this film; it has almost everything this series was lacking which is character development, an interesting story, interesting characters, and a solid motivation from Lady Tremaine.
Because she was honestly pretty boring despite having some intimidating characteristics, and most of her previous efforts resulted in nothing that could have impacted the lives of the protagonists. This, however, actually made her threatening and powerful by giving her a wand from the fairy godmother and giving her the ability to go back in time to twist their time of events in order for Cinderella’s “happily ever after” to never happen. To me, that is both diabolical and quite a genius move on her part. That is the greatest evil she has ever done in this series. Why wasn’t she this threatening before?
Again, the animation is perfect and flows perfectly. The voice acting is really done well. The story was actually interesting for once despite the flaws it may have.
As for Prince Charming, he finally has a personality! They wrote him as an interesting character who had to fully develop his relationship with Cinderella from scratch and almost restart their time together but this time with actual heart being put into it. It’s so refreshing to see a Disney Prince who is actually a character and not a cliche, cardboard character who only lives to kiss and marry a princess within a short period of time. You have no idea how many times I get annoyed by that. 🙄
Anastasia had the most perfect conclusion to her character arc through her redemption. This was a good follow-up to her development from the last movie. However, I was a little disappointed that baker whom she fell in love with wasn’t fully present in this movie. Still, I was really glad to see her happy and not follow a dishonest and evil path Tremaine wanted her to be in.
Overall, this movie was actually enjoyable to watch. Honestly, I’ve only watched it for about two or three times two years ago or so. Would I watch it again? Eh, probably not since I’m not a fan of this series, but it was good while watching it. 8/10
