Hey, guys. Tonight, I will be reviewing 2018’s Black Panther. This film was absolutely awesome with the way it expanded its unique universe and showed how deep and important these lessons really are: never abandoning your morals, staying true and loyal to your family, and never turning your back on those who need you. I didn’t think this movie was going to be that deep, but wow... was I surprised. However, what is even more saddening is the fact that the late Chadwick Boseman went through chemotherapy during filming these movies as he battled colon cancer for four years. It’s so unfortunate he passed away on August 28th, 2020. Thus, to remember his legacy, I will bring to you what I think of this movie.

First off, I really admire how committed Mr. Boseman was to the Black Panther role in these films—Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame, and this movie. He was so focused in bringing the Black Panther to life to the point where he owned the role and became Black Panther himself. His lines of dialogue felt real, significant, and powerful because he spoke as if he was speaking from the heart. Every lesson he conveyed is directly applicable to our society and how we too must stand together as one and be there for each other. I really enjoyed watching him in this movie. The rest of the cast did well also in playing their respective supporting characters.

The same can also be said for Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger. He was highly fascinating as a villain; plus, he was full of wits, charisma, charm, and yet deadly vengeance whenever he fought in a battle. He reminded me of Tai Lung in a way since they both are vengeful and power-hungry. He is probably now one of my favorite villains in the MCU, and I was hoping that the movie wouldn’t kill him off. Alas, they did exactly that. Still, the fact that he died a warrior’s death while maintaining his false ideologies was good enough.

Speaking of Killmonger, that twist of him being left behind by King T’Chaka when he was a kid and his father being murdered by him was really shocking and heartbreaking. True, his father’s intentions were definitely questionable and unethical, but Erik didn’t deserve to have his father killed like that and to be cruelly abandoned. It’s no wonder he grew up as an emotionless Black Opps killer in the U.S. and abroad. It’s almost the same situation with Batman except he is a hardcore murderer. Gosh, this story was unpredictable and shocking.

The cinematography and CGI were eye-appealing. It even shows the absolute beauty of nature and of Wakanda. Very well done and choreographed. Not to mention that the action scenes are splendid and not over the top. Oh, and did I almost forget to mention that Andy Serkis was actually badass as Ulysses Klaue? His character was so psychotically creepy yet hilarious as the film’s secondary antagonist! Too bad he later became the plot device by killing him off in order for Killmonger to pose a challenge to King T’Challa/Black Panther. It wouldn’t say it was wasted potential, but it was rather... unexpected.

The acting was terrific, the story was very emotional and compelling, and this entire movie is amazing. It’s not perfect, but it was definitely worth watching. I rate it a 10/10.

Rest In peace, Chadwick Boseman. Your legacy as the Black Panther will never be forgotten. ⭐️

Wakanda Forever!

WAKANDA FOREVER, BROTHER!

It’s been a while since I last saw this film, but I agree. “Black Panther” was an enjoyable film to watch every step of the way.

My only questions now mainly regard how Marvel is ever going to make a sequel without Boseman or the character of T’Challa, and I’ve been on the edge of my seat every time I kept thinking about it.

According to Marvel Studios, they are planning to have Shuri as the new Black Panther for the sequel... as a successor to T’Challa/Chadwick Boseman if you will.

5474132
Maybe T’Challa is killed off in-universe and it’s up to Shuri to fill in his shoes.

5474151
Makes me wonder how the character would die, really. Mainly considering it’d be hard to have the character die on-screen without Boseman around.

5474194
Perhaps imply that T’Challa died... off-screen.

5474203
Like, if a bad guy killed him somehow?

5474257
Maybe. Of course, they won’t do a CGI Chadwick out of respect to his legacy. Therefore, they just have to mention T’Challa’s death through dialogue.

I have a question:

Do you think it’s possible that Marvel will still recast the character of T’Challa in the long run? Mainly if his absence causes a problem for the script?

A new question just came in my head regarding this movie:

How cool do you think it would be to see an animated Black Panther series? One that takes place between this movie and “Infinity War” with T’Challa as one of the leading characters?

5562525
An animated Black Panther series that is connected to the MCU films? Uh, I really don’t see that happening. Having it animated just feels so out-of-place and random at best. I don’t see them going through the Star Wars route.

5562541
It was only a suggestion. I had thought that it’d be a great compromise because it’d not only give further exploration as to what T’Challa’s reign as king was like, but because all whoever plays the character would need to do is just provide the voice while giving a great impression of Boseman.

5562546
Yeah, having an animated series for Black Panther is fine, but my issue is having it connect with the MCU while in an animated format.

If it can be it’s own separate thing, then I would highly approve of it.

5562549
What made “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” work for you as an animated series, by any chance?

5562550
Like I said, I don’t see them go through the Star Wars route to connect an animated series to live-action films. Besides, they’ve been doing separate series such as WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier which are all in live-action format. Why would they suddenly make an animated series for Black Panther whereas they could’ve done it in live-action? See where I’m going?

5562550
That show is connected to the overall universe of Star Wars which is why it makes sense. It wasn’t done at random.

Marvel has a connected universe through the live-action films. Having an animated series for one of its heroes would be out of place and nonsensical because they’ve never done that before.

5562553
I get what you mean.

But, how else can they have a series starring T’Challa without recasting the character in the live-action world?

5562555
Here’s what I think: if the sequel (with Shuri as the new Black Panther) manages to be a success, then they should make a live-action series featuring her again and have her expand on T’Challa’s backstory without necessarily featuring him physically and, thereby, revealing more of his history as well as expand on her character.

An animated series is unnecessary.

5562558
I wouldn’t say that. There is an animated Marvel series called “What If…?”, which is about what would happen if certain events in the MCU happened differently. A Jurassic World series called “Camp Cretaceous” is also animated, and it takes place between the first and second Jurassic World films.

5562562
Whatever the case is, I just don’t feel like an animated series for Black Panther would work. It’s just my opinion, and that’s final.
