Like in the one im going to publish soon, there is a part where the main character stumbles upon a wounded Space Marine as he defends a filly.
The filly gets all super powered and kills the deamon before saying that she is a he, and he is a "god".
the wounded Space Marine asks about the filly, and is told that her memories would fade when the god rose.
you see a minor character then
yet i have an entire chapter devoted to memory about him, his connection to the filly, the filly's connection to him, and both of their standings in the galaxy.
its these small tidbits you wouldnt know of when you read the original fic that suddenly have a life of their own.
