Hey, guys. Here is my review of Pixar’s Monsters Inc. Geez, Pixar created a lot of classic, memorable, and wonderful animated films that contained plenty of beautiful, great lessons and family fun. This is most definitely one of those childhood films that has exactly those two things. Monsters Inc is the film where I was first introduced to John Goodman’s terrific voice acting when I was a kid. He gave that bubbly, intelligent, serious, yet funny big scary monster persona in Sullivan. I really enjoyed watching him and seeing him develop through his unexpected yet newfound relationship with a human girl whom he named Boo.

Their friendship felt so real and so emotional to the point where at the end of the film, he felt sad having to separate from her after spending so much time with her and seeing that she, as a human, wasn’t as dangerous or deadly as other monsters kept making it out to be for many years. This goes to show that irrational fear and hatred can and will lead us to destroy relationships, and it can make us do things that will greatly harm others. By breaking those barriers, we will see the full truth in its entire context. On a side note, I found the other characters likewise funny and interesting.

I especially love that “2319!!!” gag throughout the movie like that particular scene where George had the CDA tackle him to the ground and literally shave off all his fur. So he’s basically naked, and that guy just coldly ripped that bandage off his back before George obnoxiously screamed. I am laughing so hard even right now. 🤣

The voice acting and the story were equally top-notch. Billy Crystal did great as Mike, and the late James Coburn was amazing as Waternoose. I also really liked the animation and the art style on the characters’ designs. I don’t know why, but it gave me that Pixar feeling in a strange way. Lol, yeah....

Both Waternoose and Randall were quite an entertaining duo as antagonists. For the former however, I never expected him to become a villain until around the climax of the film. I was just so focused on Randall so much that I didn’t see that coming, but at least it makes sense. Randall was so full of himself and his own lust for power to be the ultimate scarer and winner that he lost himself. I gotta say, for a chameleon-like monster, he put up one heck of a fight against our heroes. But when Boo began beating him up, I started to chuckle because it’s literally a monster getting defeated by a human child. As Palpatine would say, IRONIC.

Guess what? He gets even more karma served to him within that RV by getting his butt kicked by that lady with a shovel. That was so funny! Plus, he even ended up as a junkyard Transformer in Transformers: The Last Knight to suffer the grenades of Sullivan. For those of you who get the joke, you get a cookie. ;)

So yeah, I really love this film. Once again, it gets a 10/10! Great animated film to be recommended!

Peace!

What kind of cookie?

When you think about it, this movie shows that Actions have Consequences.
