Hey, guys. Here is my review of this animated classic film: A Bug’s Life. This was one of my favorite films from childhood, and I still love it a lot today. One would even wonder how a life of an ant would be like and what struggles that puny little ant goes through on a daily basis. Consider the ant and her labor because it would appear that it’s not as simple as you like to think! Prepare to get nostalgic feelings out of this review because it surely is doing it for me right now. So.... LET’S RIDE!!!!

Flik was a well-written character as we see him try his best to help the colony in gathering all the food they can get, but most of them dislike his accident-prone behavior and dismiss him as an annoyance. Of course, there is this little fella named Dot; I actually like her helpful, cute, and optimistic personality who sees him very differently. The interactions she has with Atta and their mother are just sweet and adorable. For Atta... well, at least she is more interesting than some Disney Princesses I know. Dave Foley did well voicing Flik as well as Julia Louis-Dreyfus voicing Atta.

This guy was THE GOAT! Kevin Spacey did his best performance as Hopper and gave him such a menacing, intimidating personality and made him a dictator-like villain. My mother and I would often quote his most iconic catchphrase, “LET’S RIDE!!” She just loves his commanding voice of a leader. Also, my dad use to recite his most hilarious line to me in the movie, “Do you understand me? I SAID DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!” I and my sister always quoted this line whenever we messed with each other. 🤣

Gosh, Hopper literally made my childhood so enjoyable. ❤️ He is probably my favorite Pixar villain. Oh, and his death was adorably gruesome too. Cute little birdies...

The story was so engaging and interesting because we see Flik meet a band of circus insects whom formed such a dynamic relationship with him. In high hopes of taking on the tyrannical grasshoppers, he used deception to try to gain an advantage... until it all backfired.

Seriously, who doesn’t love these guys? My favorite circus bug would be the ladybug Francis mostly because he’s so short-tempered it’s unintentionally funny. Yeah... the rest of them are fine though. But John Ratzenberger was great as that little circus flea! One of my favorite voice actors of my childhood!

The animation was beautiful, the soundtrack was great, the rest of the voice cast did a phenomenal job. I can see no flaw in any of this. So what does it get? A 12/10! Although I am surprised that it never got a sequel, I don’t think it actually needs one. Besides, the story got a satisfying conclusion and the characters are all happy. No sequel necessary.

Peace!

Back in Pixar's golden age, when they had bloopers in the credits.

Ah, a classic.

Always loved Flik's apology (I'm sorry....I'm sorry...I'm so sorry...please forgive me, I'm sorry). I use that to mess around with others
