So 2020 has ended and I think we all can agree it sucked. but we had a lot of new anime that helped get us through it and these are the 5 that stood out to me this year and what I want to talk about. same rules as always, we don't count new seasons of shows that already showed up on the list. also there are some anime I'm still in the middle of watching ok, let's get started.
Number 5: Ishuzoku Reviewers (Interspices Reviewers)
the anime that was in the middle of much controversy this year and blurs the line between Anime and Hentai. Ishuzoku Reviewers tells the story of the adventurers Stunk and Zel as well their Angel friend Crim as they go to the Succu-district, taking part in the various brothels there. the group reviews their expenses with the different races of girls and publishes them for the masses. from catgirls to elves to demons, this show is a gold mine for fans of monster girls. the comedy may be too raunchy for some but is on point and there is a surprising amount of good world-building. some may say this show goes too far but I thought this was one of the best this year had to offer.
Number 4; God of Highschool
a new (and possibly short-lived) trend in anime this year was the anime adaptations of Korean webcomics. I was surprised how much the two fandoms overlap. The one that caught my attention was God of Highschool, a show about a martial arts tournament where highschool students fight for the title "God of Highschool", but things go much deeper than a simple contest of strength. Mappa brought their A-game with this one as the fights are amazing, as they should be. however I have the feeling there is a lot of skipped content, the "Read the Manga ending" didn't help. however, it did get me interested in actually picking up the comic and reading it.
Number 3: Jujutsu Kaisen
what many believe will be the next big thing from Shonen Jump. Yuuji was a normal highschooler till he came in contact with a powerful Cursed item. after eating a Finger of Sukuna (a powerful cursed spirit), Yuuji gained grate cursed powers and is flung into the world of jujutsu sorcery. I will be honest, even though have been enjoying the show, I still haven't seen the wow factor. Shonen anime like this works better in the long run and I can't wait to when this series really gets a chance to show me what it got.
Number 2: Appare-Runman!
what happens when you mix Cowboys, Samurai, Steam Punk, and the closest thing to a Jojo part 7 adaptation? you get one of my favorite anime of the year. in the 19th century, an engineer from japan named Appare and his Samurai companion Kosame are stranded in Los analyst. there only hope for returning home is the prize money for winning the Trans-American Race. along the way, the pair will be going up against not only the other racers but ruthless outlaws out for blood. for being 13 episodes, the show really did a good job with developing the large cast of characters. this id definitely o should be on your must-watch list.
Number 1: BNA (Brand New Animal)
Have you guessed yet I'm a HUGE Trigger Fanboy. in a world where Beastman lives among Humans, a young girl Michiru transformed into a Tanuki girl? wanting to find out what happened to her and how to undo it, Michiru Travels to Anima City, A sanctuary to Beastmen. along the way she meets a Wolf Social Worker names Shirou Ogami who helps her navigate this strange new city. for as much as I love this anime, a major problem is that it's too short. I'm not saying it needs a season 2, in fact, I thought it ended nicely. i just think they turned a 24 episode anime into a 12 episode anime. a lot of characters like Shirou and Nazuna really get shafted and could really use some more spotlight. Fortunately, Michiru was fully able to carry the show threw its short run. I just cant wait for the Prequal Light novel to get translated.

Dorohedoro; Weird show with a charming cast.
Grate Pretender. A stylish show about con men.
Gelpinir: i thought this one was going to be darker.
Akudama Drive. Suicide Squad 2077. it would've made the list but I didn't finish it yet.
