A Weird Fact You Maybe Didn't Know · 3:20pm Nov 1st, 2020
You can be asked for you ID when buying vanilla extract. Strange, right?
I didn't know this until almost two years ago when I was buying baking supplies and I bought a different brand than the one I normally buy and I got asked for ID when I was buying it by the sales assistant. When I asked her why I needed to prove my age, she said it was because it contained alcohol. That is also a fact I didn't know.
I find it odd that if all extracts commonly use alcohol as an ingredient, why did I not get ID'd for the other brand I always buy?
You can make it yourself at home with vanilla pods and vodka. That's literally all you need. My youngest brother does it, as he is a baker.
I'm now wondering who in their right mind would even buy vanilla extract to get hammered. What kind of chav sits down with his mates in the kitchen and go's, ''A'up, bo, I snagged this from te shelves at te Co-Op, wanna get propa razzed?'' You know what's sad about that? There probably is one or more who genuinely buy vanilla extract to get drunk, but you'll need an absolute tonne, by my count. It's not as strong, obviously.
Still, this was a weird fact that I brought up because I was ID'd for a large bag of M&M's...strange world, isn't it? What, can I get stoned on chocolate now? Pfft.
