    Feathers and Scales Aren't Waterproof

I feel that I at least owe SOME explanation of why I have not redone Of Feathers and Scales like I said I would all those months ago.

    Justification of Deafening Silence

I'll be honest, I've been having a really hard time lately. I've been trying to get into the writing groove to appease the readers with another chapter of "Of Feathers And Scales" but I can't help but feel I have kind of... broken the story. I can't erase the mistakes I have made, numerous as they are. The plot has essentially become badly unbelievable. I should have spent more time developing

    Improvised Roleplaying

This is by far the strangest thing I have ever done. A friend and I started randomly roleplaying on one of Equestria Daily's Ponychats. Needless to say, it progressed into something a little... Uh... Deep. Here is a short excerpt from it. Bear in mind, I was playing a particular character made up on the spot in my head. I'm Sky_Twister and my friend is Purple_Twirl. This entire thing is unedited

This story appeared at around the same time I said I was going to restart OFaS. Possibly a little earlier. Some coincidence, huh? Anyway, I was excited, because RainbowSpike, but then I started reading it.

Everything about it was extremely well done, and I could tell the author put a lot of effort into it, but I started noticing similarities between this and OFaS. It took me until Spike carried Rainbow Dash home from a club to realize that these similarities were more than intentional; this was homage - the meeting of the Wonderbolts, the training, the mention of the whatsit eels - I'm almost waiting for them to both do something for Nightmare Night.

Please do understand that merely finding something that took a similar path was not the only reason I did not follow through with my plan. The author of April Showers has essentially covered all the bases when it comes to this shipfic, and unless Denim Blue can read my mind, he came up with several, very inventive devices and plot points that very much deviate from the original, but certainly prevent me from writing any ship-centric RainbowSpike in good conscience (For the record, I'm glad Denim Blue has more or less taken on the task. He's done brilliantly). You see; the main reason I started writing OFaS was because it hadn't been done before, plain as that. Now, with the addition of Spike's Rainbow Dash, It's really... been done now.

So what does this mean for me as a writer on this website? I really don't know. I'd like to be able to promise you that I'll write new, more enjoyable fics after my 3/4 year hiatus, but I don't think I can. Given a recent epiphany, I have a feeling that the subject matter may make a few of you hesitate. Nothing mature (Can easily fit in the "Everyone" rating), but at times just as controversial. Heck, I can't even guarantee my writing will be above par.

Okay, I'm going to stop now before I start rambling. In conclusion, read April Showers if you want a good Of Feathers and Scales reboot. I'm gonna go try and actually get something done for a change. Not going to make any promises I don't know if I can keep, but let's stay positive here.

Thank you for the update.

Shame. I was looking forward to what happened next with Dash and Spike, especially after that accident. I for one don't think the two are TOO alike, but i won't judge you for it.

So I mentioned your fic to Denim_Blue and just gave him a link to it.
I don't think he saw yours before.
