I'm sourcing parts for a restoration project, but had no luck so far finding the correct parts, and here's why...(Left-Handers are a pain) · 7:06am Jul 7th, 2020
I'm looking for guitar parts. I want to do a project to keep myself busy, possibly make a video of me doing it, however likely or unlikely it might be for me to do. You can find right-handed parts anywhere with no problem. However, the one I'm looking at modifying is a left-handed one, of which parts are scarce and hard to come by, meaning they usually have to be imported from an international country. That can cost a fortune. None of the general websites I've searched have got what I want.
*Claws at eyes and screeches like cat* Is it so hard for a guy to find ONE LH pickguard for his Stratocaster? A pickguard and a neck is what I want mainly, but I can't find them anywhere that's in my price range. I'm trying to find parts that are ready to instal as soon as I open them from their packaging to save time. I don't trust myself with power tools, period. Nope. If I don't end up slashing my finger with a saw, I end up burning myself on both my hands with a solder iron. (I'm clumsy, alright? I'm probably tech cursed.)
For those of you who don't know, being a musician and modifying / customising your guitars is definitely not a cheap hobby. That's why I spend my time trying to be as cost-efficient as possible. I'd rather have things ready to install and use the moment they arrive for time reasons and because I don't know the first thing about preparing them myself. This is the first time I'm attempting a custom job, so I don't want to jump in at the deep end. Regardless, I'll have to keep searching, but this is starting to grind on me more than the time I tried to find ONE POT for that amplifier I salvaged from a recycling centre and got it working again. You wouldn't believe how long that took.
Welp, looks like I'm going to be sat around waiting and searching for parts and junk. I think this song is most fitting for this situation...
