Greetings, everyone. Here is my review of The Batman vs. Dracula. As someone who grew up watching this show, I was actually impressed with this animated film. While not as great as Return of the Joker or Mask of the Phantasm, it is still a really enjoyable film. On a side note, this 2004 series which the film is based on is what actually introduced me to the Batman franchise. It was the first Batman show I’ve ever watched. I played The Batman computer games such as The Cobblebot Caper and read a comic book based on the show. I really loved the show! Anyway, let’s get into what I liked in the film:

1). Rino Romano as Bruce Wayne/ Batman. While he may not be Kevin Conroy, he is still a good Batman. What I love about this Batman is that no matter what happens to his enemies, he always makes every attempt to save their lives as he fervently maintains his no-killing rule. Other Batman incarnations from other shows had the same mindset, but there were moments where they allowed their enemies to die under unusual circumstances (look at Batman Beyond); this Batman makes sure that never happens. Also, the way that his cape covers his whole body is fascinating and awesome. I wish the other incarnations of him were like that.

2): Kevin Michael Richardson as The Joker. Yes, Mark Hamill is the definitive Joker, but Richardson’s Joker was absolutely amazing. Plenty of people were dissatisfied with this Joker’s design especially his dreads and bare feet. For me, I actually like his design. I grew up with it, y’know. His laughs and chaotic behavior were also top-notch.

3). Tom Kenny as The Penguin. Yup, the man himself. You know him as Spongebob, Starscream, Ice King, Jake Spidermonkey, Dog, Mayor from Powerpuff Girls, and many other characters from other shows. His voice acting is... just nostalgic. Any character he voices I immediately have a liking for that said character. The Penguin was a good villain in the show and in this animated movie. For some reason, I like to pair him with The Joker. I mean, to me, Penguin is the second biggest threat in Gotham following The Joker. Both of them are my favorite villainous duo in the show, and they look so good together. We need to see them team up more often.

4). The main antagonist Dracula voiced by Peter Stormare. He was a great villain who provided a great challenge to Batman. Is it me or does he look more like Ra’s Al Ghul?

5). Alfred voiced by Alastair Duncan. The same lovable Alfred we all know and love. Again, great character and great role he played.

6). The story was interesting and easy to follow. I actually enjoyed the darker tone this movie had; it was much more intense than the show itself. For example, laser shots and electric shots are used frequently throughout the show, but in this movie, they used actual bullets to shoot. Wow, that’s was unexpected! They even showed blood here unlike in the show. Another thing was that they added flashbacks to the murder of Bruce’s parents with... disturbing undertones. This film took a lot of liberties it seems.

7). However, this film has horror elements that can be unsuitable for children. I don’t see how that it’s rated G when it has content that can be... disturbing. Couldn’t they at least make it rated PG? Since I’m not a fan of horror films, I don’t love this movie too much. Nonetheless, it is a fun animated film.

8). I liked the part where Bruce was remorseful over The Joker’s apparent death (even though he survived later). He determined to keep anyone involved in his fights (except Dracula since he was already dead. You can’t kill what’s dead) from dying whether they are bad guys or not. He values all life as a hero should always do.

9). The soundtrack was decent and nice to listen to.

10). I really like the ending as well. Powerful and impactful.

Overall, I rate this animated film a 7/10. Really entertaining and enjoyable as always. Any thoughts on this?

Peace.

Been too busy to watch it now. But it's on my list.

I fondly remember seeing this move in class during Elementary School many years ago.
Along with that Scooby-Doo movie that took place in Egypt I think.

Need to see this as I love the Batman Vampire comic series
