I GOT MY BABY BACK! · 3:35pm Jun 19th, 2020
I got a call this morning from the guitar shop owner and he let me in on the situation. The guitar tech is one of the most vulnerable people to this virus we're facing right now, so he's off duty and in isolation until it's once agains safe for him to return to work, which means I was told it was better for me to take my guitar home until that time comes.
I got my Stratocaster back! I've missed it so much and have already been having a go with it. I can't say how much I've missed that twangy sound you can only find in a Strat, and the strings are fresh and of a more durable, higher-quality than the ones I normally use, so it's got a very orgasmic, resonant tone. With that being said, it's likely I'm going to be playing some blues for a while to pass time and to entertain myself in the meantime.
For those of you who maybe don't know, my guitar isn't an authentic Fender Stratocaster; it's a forgery, and a very good one, too. It may be fake and it may be a massive downer to me, but it is still my guitar. I love it. It's probably my favourite guitar aside from my Mustang. I love the way it looks, that vintage vibe, that sunburst, the maple neck...to me, it's my ideal instrument. I'm hoping to use it extensively throughout my musical career and in professional recordings once I get the call to bring it back in to get it back in fully working order. I want this guitar so badly to work with me as a main guitar.
Only a proper guitarist will understand that kind of love between user and instrument. You have to earn that love. The Strat won me over, despite it being a fake. I'm sure its sound will win you over when you hear it some day, too.
