Question with Story Potential · 4:28pm Jun 18th, 2020
While reading the latest chapter of Story Shuffle 2 by FanOfMostEverything, something occurred to me. A question that could lead to an entertaining story if someone wished to explore it.
In regards to the events of the movie: where was Daring Do?
Being an archaeologist and relic hunter, did she have a run in with Storm King, the army, or Tempest when they were going for the staff? What about the petrification orbs? What about during the actual invasion? Was she helping fight the army and protect ponies, or did she happen to be away from the events, completely oblivious until her return (or until there was a sudden rush of days and nights in a matter of seconds)?
This also leads to other questions. Like: did she know about Klugetown? Mount Aris? Has she ever worked with sky pirates before?
Random one which just came to me: do Storm King and Ahuizotl know each other?
It seems there's a lot of possibility here.
Oh jeez. Now I’ll be thinking about this for the next week.
It's been proposed that all of the creatures who should logically have been there to stop the attack on the Friendship Festival were too busy attacking the Storm King's actual home base. It's also been proposed that said home base is on another world entirely, as an excuse for how little he knew about how Equestria worked.
I have seen some work done with Daring interacting with the details established in the movie, particularly in Wanderer D's Algae Photis, including Tempest working with Ahuizotl. But there does seem to be surprisingly little intersection between the established globetrotting adventurer and the movie's wider world. (Granted, few of the movie's details made it in to the show at all unless they were hippogriff-related.)

Well now I kind of want someone to write that, if only to see how Daring and Discord play off each other.

It is also possible that she did in fact go after the staff/orbs and got captured in the attempt and was released when the Storm King was defeated.

Not to mention Ember, Pharynx, Rutherford, and Grandpa Gruff. There are a lot of antisocial folk in that ragtag group, and the sniping between them would be amazing.
EDIT: Forgot Starswirl; I can just imagine Gruff's feelings on not being the crotchetiest old bastard in the room for probably the first time in as long as he can remember.
