**********

You guys know I will be praising the high heavens out of this movie, so let’s get right into it. First off, Batman/Bruce Wayne was great; his action scenes were very good to follow and eye-catching to look at. His character was so profound and deep especially when you see his struggles of being the Dark Knight, having to deal with excessive power in Gotham, and ultimately his sacrifice at the end. I love how Christian Bale acted as Batman. Really appreciate his work.

Also, we see his relationship with Rachel Dawes (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal) is being shared with the new district attorney Harvey Dent as he too has a deep affection for her. In this love triangle, Rachel is stuck between two men: one is secretly a vigilante defending Gotham whereas the other is a reflection of the shining rays of light trying to bring true justice. Seeing Harvey as more worthy for her love, she chooses him over Bruce.

Honestly, I didn’t like this Rachel (I didn’t mind the recast of her character though). She seemed a little too much like Mary Jane Watson from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy (thank God she didn’t constantly scream at least). However, I still felt sorry for both Bruce and Harvey after she was killed. That drew the line between Batman and Harvey; in other words, her death revealed their true colors if you will.

Speaking of which, Harvey Dent’s (played by Aaron Eckhart) portrayal in this film was overshadowed by the outstanding performance of the film’s main antagonist. His transition to Two-Face was also deep and emotional. You actually start to feel sympathy for him and what he endured. Thus, he no longer becomes Gotham’s White Knight but now a murderous psychopath to avenge the death of Rachel. Even though his appearance as Two-Face was minimized, it actually makes sense. Considering his third-degree burns on HALF of his FACE and possibly getting infected, I don’t think he would live that long.

Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman once again rocked as Lucius Fox and Commissioner Gordon. Same goes for Michael Caine’s Alfred.

The quotes in this film are so inspiring and memorable even to this day. “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain.” Dear goodness, is that line amazing!

Last but not least... The Joker. Honestly, Heath Ledger’s Joker is my favorite version of Joker of ALL time. His original take on The Joker was both exceptional and jaw-dropping. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mark Hamill’s Joker... always WILL... but this one takes the cake. His intelligence, logic, reasoning, destructive nature, and his thirst for chaos was terrific especially his terrifying laughs. Joker the Anarchist is my favorite one. By the way, a lot of people say that The Joker is the only one who made this movie great while the others were boring. I’m sorry but that is wrong on so many levels. It wasn’t just The Joker that was great. It was everyone else too thanks to Christopher Nolan’s direction.

Rest In peace, Heath Ledger. Your amazing acting as The Joker will never be forgotten. Now you guys see why my avatar has his picture. He’s my favorite movie villain ever.

I rate this movie an 11/10, an excellent film and my favorite out of this trilogy. I would rate it a 12/10, but this Rachel was a big “No” for me. Love the ending where Batman took the fall for Harvey to maintain his reputation... just like Harvey did for Bruce. Gosh, there are so many things in this movie you will learn once you constantly watch this film. Any thoughts?

Peace.

Really good review. Here are my thoughts on the movie:

+ Heath Ledger as the Joker
+ Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two-Face
+ Side characters (Gordon, Fox, Alfred, Rachel)
+ Every single one of the action sequences
+ Batman's new suit and Batpod
+ The interrogation scene
+ The Joker's terrifying manipulation skills and actually sound logic
+ Exploration of themes like identity, corruption, escalation, and choice
+ Musical score by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard

- Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Final Verdict: 9/10 (Amazing)
