Hey, everyone. I’m back once again with another Batman review. I will now cover on my most favorite trilogy of all time... The Dark Knight Trilogy. This trilogy has honestly shaped my way of thinking about life and the choices I make every day. These films are filled with philosophical questions and reasonings combined with moral lessons we need to both learn and apply. All thanks to Christopher Nolan, the Batman franchise has been rebooted to a state of serious and dark reflections manifested in Batman after it suffered from the horrible downfall of Batman and Robin. To be honest, I am so thankful Mr. Nolan took the right step in restoring Batman.

In this review, I will talk about Batman Begins. Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale) was wonderfully portrayed as a broken man who was traumatized as a child when he beheld the brutal deaths of his parents at the hands of a robber. With no one to guard him, look after him, and care for him, the family butler Alfred Pennyworth (played by Michael Caine) took him and cared for him after the Waynes were buried. As he became a man, he thirsted for revenge against his parents’ killer. Seizing a gun his father had, Bruce prepared to exact revenge on the murderer... until a hitwoman beat him to it.

After Rachel Dawes (played by Katie Holmes) talked sense into him (including a slap on his face), Bruce realized that killing for revenge would make him no better than the common criminal. Thus, his new journey began as he sought justice once he saw the stage Gotham was in. I loved the way he was written and portrayed in this film. His anger, his sorrow, his training by Ra’s Al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson) , his playboy persona, and his real commitment to save Gotham City from its worse enemies were fantastic to see. Truly, Bale did a wonderful job as Bruce Wayne.

As Batman himself is concerned, he was great as well. And yes, yes, I know what you’re thinking, “What about his throat cancer voice??” Not gonna lie, I actually like his Batman voice here much more than his voice in the sequels. His voice was calm, actually intimidating, and not gravelly. Although I’m not bothered too much by his other voice in the next two films, I do admit it was a bit over the top. I heard that Bale hurt his voice after the production of Batman Begins. After that, Nolan had to digitally alter Batman’s voice in the sequels. That’s what I’ve heard. Anyway, this Batman was great to watch.

The villains were great, and the secondary characters were great. Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman rocked as Lucius Fox and James Gordon respectively. For me, they stole every scene they were in. I love their performance!

Scarecrow/Jonathan Crane (played by Cillian Murphy) was... okay I guess? Honestly, I don’t like his portrayal of Scarecrow. He doesn’t look threatening and intimidating in the slightest. He just had to put on his Scarecrow mask and that’s it. Huh??? No, the New Batman Adventures Scarecrow is much more creepy and scary than this dude. Nolan’s version of him just sucks. Plus, he was underutilized in the whole trilogy. Not much character development in him sadly.

Ra’s Al Ghul was a great villain though. Plenty of people forget that he is the main antagonist of this film since he was the mastermind behind the whole plan of destroying Gotham by infecting its inhabitants with the fear toxin so they could kill each other out of fear. His class, elegance, demeanor, manners, intelligence, wisdom, and superior fighting skills all speak of his personality and power! Man, Neeson did great as the main villain.

Overall, this movie was good. Its main theme was fear and how it can affect us in many different ways. I rate this film a 7/10. It’s not as good as The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises which is why it’s my least favorite out of the trilogy. But it’s still very good. What do you guys think?

Peace.

Awesome poster.

Very nice review. Here are my thoughts on the movie:

+ Christian Bale as both Bruce Wayne and Batman
+ Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul
+ Side characters (Alfred, Fox, Gordon, Rachel)
+ Realistic portrayal of Gotham City, the Batcave, and Batman's arsenal
+ All the action sequences and fight scenes
+ Bruce Wayne's backstory and character development
+ Exploration of themes such as fear, justice, revenge, and duality
+ Visual effects during nightmare sequences

- Villains (Scarecrow, Carmine Falcone, Flass)
- Overuse of shaky cam

Final Verdict: 8/10 (Great)

You're welcome. Looking forward to reading both your next story and your review of The Dark Knight.

I'd throw in the Arkham games version being better for Scarecrow than the movie's
