Hello there, little ones! Your Uncle Joker is back with my fourth Batman review! I will be reviewing Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman. This was a movie that actually introduced me to the character of Batwoman. If I am completely honest with myself, I would say that this film is just...above average at best. It has its great moments which I will talk about in this review, but it does have a plot which really isn’t the most interesting to me. But before I get to that, let me talk about the characters.

1). Batman (voiced by Kevin Conroy) was once again excellent as well as Bruce Wayne. Seeing him in his New Batman Adventures design is awesome since that show had some of the best designs or redesigns of the characters (except maybe Joker). His detective skills, stoic personality, and leadership is still top-notch, so what more can I say of him? 10/10

2). Robin (voiced by Eli Marienthal) was good in this film. His character was well-done even though he didn’t have a bigger role. 7/10

3). Batwoman was... wow! She was actually good! She would’ve made a great ally with Batman and Robin which I will mention again later. She should be featured more in future films and shows. 8/10

4). The Penguin (voiced by David Ogden Stiers) was a great main antagonist in the movie. When was the last time we had him as the main villain? Batman Returns? Yeah, this is quite rare to have him play a large role as the main villain. I like his businessman personality, his politeness, and class. He reminds me of Shere Khan from The Jungle Book: having such respect and class until the villain reveals his real villainous self. I really like that. 9/10

5). Bane (voiced by Hector Elizondo) was an awesome secondary villain in the movie! The fight scene between him and Batman was great. He wasn’t featured much in the New Batman Adventures as he appeared in one episode through a hallucination/Batgirl’s nightmare caused by Scarecrow. I loved the part where Batman threw the explosive pellets at Bane which had no effect on him. It reminds me of The Dark Knight Rises quote he said: “Theatricality and deception: powerful agents to the uninitiated! But we are initiated aren’t we, Bruce?” Powerful! 10/10

5). Lastly, Kathy (voiced by Kimberly Brooks), Rocky (voiced by Kelly Ripa), and Sonia (voiced by Elisa Gabrielli) were... decent I guess? They have interesting backstories and all, but why did the writers have to make three Batwomen out of them? Just why? Why couldn’t they just have one lady with a single Batwoman persona then BOOM! You’re done! I don’t understand why they have to be one heroine instead of having different personalities with different, unique alter egos. That’s my first issue with the movie.

Now that I’m done with the characters, I want to lastly talk about the plot/story which is my second issue with this film. This story had interesting ideas, but it’s made in an uninteresting manner. Seeing how Barbara Gordon (voiced by Tara Strong) got only a cameo, I was somewhat disappointed by how things turned out. Wouldn’t it be better if Batgirl and Batwoman (a single individual) have some sort of bitterness towards each other while rivaling for Batman’s affection and attention? Then have Penguin and Bane capture either of them or both that would later develop a moment where they have to work together to stop the villains and learn to appreciate each other and their skills? I think that would’ve made the movie much more enjoyable although it could be cliche and generic for some people.

So overall, I give this film a 7/10. It’s still a good movie, but its plot is not something of my taste. What do you guys think?

Peace.
