My Review of Batman and Mr. Freeze: Subzero · 2:39am May 29th, 2020

Notchka and Shaka were among the best parts of this movie. Look at those gorgeous carnivores! Better than Harley’s hyena mutts!
(Whispers) Don’t tell her I said this...

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! Uncle Joker here with my second Batman review! I bring to you Batman and Mr. Freeze: Subzero! After watching this movie, I must say... it was an emotional ride for me. Yes, even I was deeply moved by this film. For starters, Mr. Freeze was an excellent tragic villain with a perfect motivation. When you examine this cold iceman, you will discover that behind all the bitter ice and snow, he is just a miserable man trying to cure his beautiful wife.

I hope I don’t cry while writing this. (Clears throat) Anyway, in the beginning of the movie, we see Victor Fries (voiced by Michael Ansara RIP) caring for Nora Fries while she was cryogenically frozen. After an unfortunate event that interrupted her cryogenic preservation, Freeze had to find a cure for her disease: a rare blood type which he found in Barbara Gordon/Batgirl (voiced by Mary Kay Bergman RIP) for an organ transplant.

He captured her and sought to use her to help cure Nora with the help of Dr. Gregory Belson (voiced by George Dzundza). I can’t help but feel sorry for Mr. Freeze in this film. In my opinion, this movie portrayed the best version of Mr. Freeze who did everything in his power to save his wife’s life although he had to commit crime in order to accomplish that goal. That just speaks of the large amount of love he had for her. I won’t even consider him as a hardcore, evil villain. The only true villain I see is that douchebag Belson. He was always selfish from the start. I’m glad he was killed in the end; he really deserved that.

Also, I love Batman’s (voiced by Kevin Conroy) and Robin’s (voiced by Loren Lester) detective skills being displayed in this film. By putting the puzzle pieces together to solve the reason why Batgirl was captured, if Dr. Belson was cooperating with Freeze, and where their hideout would be , they were able to save Barbara and stop Mr. Freeze.

During the climax, it warmed my heart to see Freeze actually helping Batman and Robin retrieve Nora and Koonak (voiced by Rahi Azizi) from the oil rig as it was about to explode from the blazing inferno. I was saddened by Freeze’s apparent death. However, I rejoiced to see him alive during the end.

Speaking of which, the ending scene actually made me cry. I’m not joking. I literally cried as I watched him happy with the knowledge that his wife is restored with an organ transplant and is living a happy life. Oh, great... I’m getting emotional as I’m talking about it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this animated film. A solid 10/10. Emotional and touching. Mr. Freeze was like the main character of the movie. I love that. Any thoughts of this film?

Peace.

Well done, Jokester. Nice touch on trashing Harley's mutts.

Never seen this movie, but I might check it out sometime in the near future. Also, I absolutely love Mr. Freeze in both Batman: the Animated Series and Arkham games.
