It's been a month now, and i was hoping i'd have at least something interesting to post here, but i don't, so instead you'll have to do with this ;D

First, thank you for at least sticking with someone who isn't that active. I will definitely try to change that, but no promises since i'm not even sure when i'll post/finish my first story.

Speaking of that first story, that will probably not happen for a few months. I always loved writing backstories, fictional biographies and scp-style articles, so stupid past me thought writing an actual story wouldn't be that hard either. spoiler: I was wrong

I've also not done as much reading here as i hoped i would, mainly because this period (semester for americans i guess?) was gonna be pretty busy, but that changed yesterday since most projects (and school) are cancelled or delayed because of covid. Even though we still get work to do, and have to follow some classes online, that still gives me way more time to focus on hobbies and such, but if this is a good thing will be decided by whatever happens in the future.

Now the serious stuff is out of the way, i guess i can at least tell the story of how i got into the fandom, and eventually to this site, the latter being a pretty funny incident.

Let's start with the first one. I was reading through some articles about Indiana Jones, when on one of the pages i got linked to the Daring Do mlp wiki page, (one of my favorite characters suprise-suprise) I started looking around, and let's say i was 'intrigued' with what i was reading. -insert the 'I think we all know where this is going' meme template here-.

A few weeks after this, I had just reached season 2, I found out that there was a mod called 'Equestria at War' for one of my favourite games, Hearts of Iron 4. (you can look it up if you don't know it) After playing the mod a few times i had gathered up the confidence to join a multiplayer game, and in short: things went horrible.
We're approximately an hour in and I was about to be destroyed by someone playing as the Lunar Empire, and here's where it get's hilarious:
Since it was a roleplaying match, the guy 'offered' to spare me a bit longer if i upvoted his story on this site, and when i agreed to these awful, outrageous and humiliating demands, he sent me the link.
To sum things up: I was cornered, desperate for a way out, and a guy roleplaying as nightmare moon pressured me into liking his story on this site.
(Which i never did, so jokes on him since the only one who gained from this was me, haha)

Hope that was worth the read, if not, you are entitled to a 25% discount on my sincerest apology ;P

Special thanks to The-Half-Brony, who sent me a message after registering offering to help if i needed it. To think i almost deleted your message because I thought it was an automated staff message :P (I know, I know, you clearly ended it with: This is NOT an automated message, but i misread that)

Hope you guys are stayin' alive in this armageddon were facing :rainbowlaugh:

You're telling me. It took me a 10-chapter long story to realize how hard it is to write a proper story (that story is also my very first, so... :twilightsheepish:) But yeah, it took me quite some time to truly settle in after joining the site. I mean, the basic FAQ and site rules they provide you have been some help, but it wasn't enough for avoiding basic mistakes when it came to writing. :derpytongue2:

By the way, the way you learned about this site is way better than mine. I had to learn about this site through a grimdark reading of a fimfic on YouTube.

Did you read (parts of) the massive writing guide they provided? I was pretty amazed with what it covered, and while alot of it is entry-level knowledge, there are still some pretty valuable things in there.

and, honestly, isn't every way of learning about this site a good one? of course, maybe some young minds have been tainted by some of the things here but..... :P

Well, you could argue that, seeing how much joy this site generally brings to us. I was just referring to the shock I received when I first encountered FiM through YouTube, where the sound effects were very realistic.
