The truth behind my Custom Shop Stratocaster, as I've just found out... · 2:52pm Mar 8th, 2020
I just got back after taking my guitar into the local guitar shop to get the selection switch fixed. I've left it with them, but we had a massive debate over its authenticity. From what they can tell, it's more or less a mix-and-match guitar that likely isn't a custom shop Strat.
On websites like Etsy, you can buy decals that you can slap on just about anything. They think that's what the custom shop logo is on mine, but they can't be sure until they poke around inside of it. It should clear some things up for me on what it really is, what it's worth and whether or not it's an authentic Fender. When I was told that it was a forgery or a replica, albeit, a pretty good one that was almost passable, it saddened me quite a bit.
It's in for a full electrical check and a selector switch replacement, so we'll see what happens with it. Regardless, I still love the guitar, even if it is a fake. I'm going to have to wait in order to find out what it truly is, where it came from and what its potential worth is. I have no clue on the year it was made (if the neck was switched for a new one, then I don't know). If there's a clue, it should be somewhere within the body of the guitar.
What do you think it might be?
Oh I see :(
