Teenagers and getting older.... · 2:35am Jan 26th, 2020
Okay so tomorrow is my eldest niece's birthday. She'll be a whole 13 years old tomorrow! I sometimes can't believe it. Yet the older she gets, I realize I'm at least 2x her age (I'm 10 years older than her and will be 23 at the end of the year). Therefore, I'M GETTING OLD TOO FAST!!!! Geeze! I feel old! I'm proud of my baby girl for reaching 13 years, yet I realize that mortality is a thing that exists! Yet while Jada (that's my nieces' name btw) is making me feel old (and knows it well enough to tease me), the opposite occurs for her mother. See her mother, my big sister will be 30 this year. That makes me feel quite young! That's a relief in itself. I mean it better considering I'm 7 years under her and 2 years under my brother (more reasons for me to make jokes at his expense). Regardless of this, I can't help but think "with age comes wisdom" is a load of horseapples. Just because someone is older, doesn't always mean they're wiser. Just means that you learn from their mistakes. My sister was 16 when she told us she was pregnant. I was already 9 when she gave birth. I learned what sex and reproduction was from that experience (that and I accidentally walked in on her having sex when I was still 8....she never knew I was there). I think it's the life experience that's the true selling point here. I've done regrettable things in life. Things I wouldn't want my nieces or nephews to imitate (not that they could...the lil softies they is), yet it's those lessons that I teach them that they know how to do and NOT to do certain things. Bottom line is: My niece will be 13 tomorrow and I swear I found another grey hair in my curls tonight.
That is all

That had to have been a scarring experience........

It was. Yet it was also a learning experience!
