1st anniversary of Steven Universe: Change Your Mind · 4:39am Jan 21st, 2020
January 21, 2019 was the premiere date of the wild rollercoaster ride of a 1-hour special
So much has happened in the original series finale:
1. The new forms of Lapis Lazuli, Peridot, Amethyst, Pearl, and Garnet
2. Steven finally fusing with the Crystal Gems where we see the return of Smoky Quartz and the debut of Rainbow Quartz 2.0, Sunstone, and Obsidian
3. The battle between Obsidian and the Diamond mech
4. White Diamond zapping Yellow, Blue, and the Crystal Gems to be their creepy slaves
5. White removing Steven's gem
6. Pink Steven unleashing a powerful scream that shook everyone and a really strong shield that protects himself from the beams of White and the mind-controlled Gems
7. The heartfelt return of Steven after his human and pink forms fused back together
8. The Diamonds, one by one, realizing their mistakes of making the Gems's lives miserable and finally accepting Steven as his own person
9. Thanks to Steven's persuasion, he and the Diamonds worked together to heal all of the corrupted Gems in Rose's fountain, including Nephrite and Jasper
10. Lars and the Off Colors finally arrived on Earth to start anew
11. The transformation of Homeworld from a totalitarian dictatorship to a liberal democracy, allowing each and every Gem to live their own lives and fuse with anyone they want to
12. Steven wraps it all up with the namesake song:
I don’t need you to respect me, I respect me.
I don’t need you to love me, I love me.
But I want you to know you could know me,
If you change your mind
Yes much has happened, and it has been an epic ride.
Not quite sure if liberal democracy is the right way to say it. I don't think anyone is being elected in Homeworld, the hierarchy caste system was ended as well as the expansionism, but I honestly don't know how government works now on Homeworld.
I also think it is safe to say that there are those who miss the old ways and don't know what to do with themselves anymore now that they don't have to obey their betters and give orders to their lessers, I.E Holly Blue Agate, and then Jasper seems as though she doesn't know what's up and what's down, the diamond she wanted to avenge was the very gem that started all this death and rebellion. Her cause is gone and even the leaders she dutifully served have in her eyes betrayed their mission and ideals. Nothing was left for her, and seeing her back herself into a corner was sad and concerning.

Yeah, not every Gem is happy with the Era 3 change. Steven's got some haters whether he likes it or not.

It's near impossible to please everyone. These old villains I suspect, will be attempting a counter-revolution on Homeworld, perhaps sabotaging warp pads to stop travel between worlds.
Also, Steven from what we saw, was both wanting to leave the past behind, but felt that everyone was leaving him behind. He has part of Pink Diamond inside him, and if there's one thing a diamond has almost at their core, it's a sense that they are in charge, they have authority, they can get what they want. Steven had to teach the diamonds better, but the part of Pink that is left in him, perhaps never learned. Before Steven was afraid of taking control because he wasn't sure if he was up to the task, but as was seen when he reassigned jobs to the other Gems, there's a part of him that thinks he just knows better, a part of Pink that has begun to surface ever since they refused during the battle with White, a part that showed its face during his brawl with Jasper, and I fear, a part that thinks that its time has come, and that the future is in its hands, that this Steven Universe Future is its dance and show.
