Obligatory Bronycon post? · 7:14pm Aug 10th, 2019
I don't have a whole lot to add that someone else hasn't, but I went to Bronycon as well. It was my third one, and the best con, pony and furry alike, that I've ever been to. It felt like home in a way that I've missed for a long time, all the people, the events, everything just felt... right. Mine's likely going to be pretty short since I don't know many people in the fandom anymore (I am really sad about this) but here I go anyways!
Wednesday:
I got in Wednesday and things were already popping from the very second I got in. The uber ride over wasn't bad, and getting into our hotel was even easier. Honestly, the only thing we really got to do on Wednesday was check into our room, eat out, and then go get our badges. Speaking of badges, the line was MASSIVE! It took us a whole two hours to get through it (us being myself and https://twitter.com/airbrushpony).
But you know what? Even the line managed to be fun somewhere. There was a dude waving a giant Equestria flag over it when it was outside, and then he started cheers and chants while in the line. I don't know who this dude was, but good lord he seemed like so much fun and he made a long line be super bearable! That, and everyone we talked to in the line was so nice to us. Some wanted to know about my necklace or Airbrush's pony tail she made, others just wanted to chat and pass the time. It's that sort of camaraderie that's always been amazing to me.
Thursday:
Just as quickly as Wednesday came, it went as well. Most of Thursday ended up with me spending time in the Dealer's den and getting some really cool stuff! I got the new set from The Papercut Pony folks as well as a SIGNED copy of the book the wife of the duo wrote. How cool is that!? I also picked up a copy of Cynewulf's book "The Night is Passing", and let me tell you, it looks damned good on my shelf with Fallout Equestria and a few other books. I can't wait to start on it, and now that I've settled down, I'm so pumped up to begin!
On Thursday, we didn't spend a whole lot of time at the con. We also went out and enjoyed the tastes of Baltimore as it were, as well as trying out some of the night life. There was a place there called "Howl at the Moon" that had a dueling piano bar and the music they played was so much fun! It was great in a super wholesome way to just visit with friends that I hardly ever get to see and drink with them while listening to some great music.
Friday:
Friday was the last day I didn't spend much time at the con. I did, however, get to go to a fantastic gay bar and spend some time shopping for lovely take homes!
Saturday:
This was where it really got popping. Airbrush and I spent the entire day at the con, from seeing all the talent work at the cosplay fashion show panel, to going to the Quill and Sofa swap time, to Bronypalooza at night, every part of this day felt amazing and special in its own way.
Airbrush even got to sit and meet some new ponies that were into art! They did some awesome sketch book trades that looked great and gave some great practice for the pony space!
I can't talk about Bronypalooza enough either, the whole thing was just... wow. Seeing MicTheMicrophone come out on stage as a surprise blew my mind, and filled me up with a happiness that I hadn't felt in a long, long time. Michelle Creber and BlackGryphon/Baasik killed it as they always did, and Eurobeat pony closing the show bookended this era of the fandom in a way that I didn't think was possible. I know I said this before, but it felt like home. It felt like I never had to leave and that it would always welcome me back.
Sunday:
Closing ceremonies and a lot of sleep, and some more sketch book trades! I gotta be honest, Closing Ceremonies was really emotional for me. I cried. I didn't just cry either, I cried a lot. Sobbed, even. But it was something that I definitely needed to see. Seeing everyone together in both of the rooms was just... wow. So many ponies came out and it really felt like no other con in the world.
I'm going to miss Bronycon.
See everyone at Everfree?
