The story went down hill when they nerfed the tree of harmony with the pillars.

    Problems with Displaced stories

    1) Recent displaced people become to strong to fast and get arrogant.
    2) Story lacks plot and becomes dependent on crossovers.
    3) Story crossover with mary sue character that ruins it.(Jason)

I really wish blogs could be upvoted, but really can’t help but agree with you. The only displaced stories that I consider decent are those where it’s a simple displacement where the main focus is to help others, ( follow the pre-existing narrative of the crossover) and get home.

One of the best examples that I’ve found in that regard is the Halo crossover Helljumpers. Nothing fancy Twilight and Scootaloo follow the main story of Halo 3 and OTSD and although changes occur when they return, it’s nothing beyond social and technological.

I’ve read a few of the stories that you mention above, and to be honest, they’re for fans of the source material and not for casual readers, which is a shame as, some, but not all are well written.

I’ve found that if they use the source material as a guide and try writing an original story set in the world instead of trying to rewrite something that already works and simply incorporate ponies into it works better, but it seems not everyone wants to try originality.
