Why am I, me? · 8:33pm Feb 28th, 2019
Why am I me or why are you, you? Am I real? I don't really know how to word this, but why am I, out of 7 billion people, the person I see out of?
But would I be a good Messiah with my low self-esteem? If I don't believe in myself would that be blasphemy? - Bloodhound Gang; Hell Yeah

I have this question every night. Unfortunately, I do not have the answers. Some think your consciousness doesn't really follow the brain, that it's actually outside your body, like a soul. I don't know though. If I could be in another body, I'm not sure...
Try Descartes. Cogito, ergo sum - I think, therefore I am. He did an experiment where he put himself in total sensory deprivation; no sight, sounds, smells or touch. However, even though he could not perceive his physical form, he still existed, regardless. So, he hypothesized that even if he could not prove physical existence, he could prove the existence of the mind. Doubting existence proves the mind exists, as otherwise we couldn't doubt our existence in the first place.
So, to answer your question, the body you inhabit may just be an illusion, only your consciousness can be proven to exist. Everything else, all knowledge and existence, is mere speculation.
