On taking the plunge

After years of simply reading stories on this site, I've finally started putting together ideas for a story of my own! It'll be based on a personal interpretation of the show's canon, wherein I treat some of it symbolically rather than literally. After all, the show is written for a target audience that isn't the same as the target audience for much of the fanfics on this site. For me, the simplified narratives of the TV show conceal events that may be more complicated and realistic than shown. Despite that, I don't intend to alter the timeline or consequences that much, though I can't promise that deviations won't happen. As a bit of a preview, I'll put down a few of the divergences that won't give away too much. In this case, race names. I've never found that it made much sense to have species/race names with two words in the show. After all, they don't exactly roll off the tongue. So I've been trying to come up with names for the two main examples: Earth Ponies & Diamond Dogs. Considering that all the other races have names that consist of one word and allow you to picture what they are without even seeing an image, these two are a bit awkward. Therefore I'm going to go with Earthen instead of Earth Ponies, and Wulfen for the Diamond Dogs. I'm not completely happy with these but I like how they flow much better.
