I Can't Decide! Vote For Ideas In the Late Future? · 6:43am Nov 6th, 2012
Here comes another blog, courtesy from Grisaille!
So! I've been doing some thinking while in the break room at work today, and I had a few ideas for a HUGE story. I wrote down at least four ideas on paper, then I broke down and analyzed each and every one of them. Since you all have been such a loving audience thus far, I've decided to let you guys in on a little bit of what's going to go down. In return, you decide what idea I should go with. Keep in mind, though, that all of them will have one main feature: the separation of the Discorded egos we saw in "The Return of Harmony" from their normal counterparts.
Yes, you heard me right, the Mane 6 will actually get to meet with their evil sides up close and personal!
1.) Remnants of Discord's influence will remain in the wake of the all-healing wave unleashed by the Elements of Harmony. This results in the dark egos materializing and some ponies desiring to embrace their darker sides rather than reject them. The main antagonist (and this was inspired by certain Tumblr blogs) will be Derpy. The whole thing will be a Sherlock Holmes vs. Moriarty type of deal. Or maybe a Johan Liebert vs. Dr. Tenma. Or even L vs. Light. You'll find out for yourself if you prefer this option more over all else.
2.) There are two options here that lead to the same plot path. An experiment by Twilight goes horribly wrong, or the egos force are strong enough to force their way out of the Mane 6's bodies and manifest into a physical form. Either way, the conflict is adjusting to life in Ponyville while everyone else adjusts to them. This is a "Slice of Life" type of deal, nothing out of the ordinary.
3.) The egos are deliberately separated to solve a sort of "illness" that has befallen the girls. This is more of a psychological type of deal than anything else, and the details are sketchy at best. If you have any suggestions on this, let me know... that is, if you are going to vote for this option.

None of the ideas seems too catchy for me. But i am not the "usual" reader, so...
Anyway, to my head-canon, Discord can never be completely neutralized, since he es CHAOS, and chaos loves when things don't make sense. And what makes less sense than Discord being able to do some Chaos Magic after the Healing Rainbow Blast?
Also, since Twilight was the one who casted the memory spell (and being the one who was "discorded" without the direct touch of Discord), it makes sense that a case of "something goes wrong in a experiment" to cause something like you mention. I can picture trying to protect herself and her friends from any future brainwashing and then that "preventive memory spell" backfires.
And last, an illness that requires them to get ridden of their alterated personalities... sounds too odd for me.
TL,DR: Options 2 and 1, in order of preference.
Option 2 is my choice.
