    Bucket List Results

Remember the spring break bucket list I posted about a month ago? Well, it's time to look at the results. And I'd say I did quite well. Especially if you consider how much I added since the initial post. Who knows, I might be able to cross off a few more the next couple days, as my initial plan to be already playing Persona 5 Royal at this point took quite a hit.

    Goddammit Nintendo

Just casually releasing a new Direct.
And only half-revealing the next Smash fighter. Though I'm glad for the franchise.

Marwile watches SAO -2*(-1) Part 18 "It's Pointless, Pointless Pointless!" · 10:47pm Dec 7th, 2018

As much as I would like tp waste even more hours on Smash today, especially because I'll be at work the whole weekend, but I feel obligated to do this at this point. I also saw SAO Extra Episode today. It's a retelling of S1 with a subplot about the girls going swimming. So essentially a recap and beach episode in one. And they didn't even bother with the right order of events. Also the obligatory breastfondling. This time done by Lisbeth. And I got my hopes up there might be at least one somewhat decent character here.

So this episode... The group's fighting Thyrm, but is slowly losing. So Freyja, the NPC they picked up, telly them to find a magic hammer for her that's conveniently lying around in the arena. The find it and Freyja turns into a giant Thor and fights Thyrm. The group also throws in some attack but ultimately Thor does everything and wins the battle for them. I mean yes, the story and such, but gameplay-wise the game just won itself. Remember when you had to actually play games to win something?

They get to the sword just in time and Kirito pulls the sword out of the stone, because not even the myths are consistent here, and the dungeon collapses. I don't have any MMO experience, but I'm pretty sure dungeons disappearing when only one person finished them is wrong.

While most of the group celebrates their victory and saving the flying Elephant-jellyfishes, Kirito only waits for the pop up to tell him he won the sword. When nothing happens he just throws it away thinking he's not worthy. Dude, it's a game. Sinon uses magic to pull it back and give it back to Kirito. This was probably the most pointless moment in the whole anime and that's saying something.

The goddess appears, introduces two other goddesses and they officially finish the quest and Kirito's allowed to keep the sword. Klein also tries hitting on one of the goddesses. DUDE, it's just a game! And after some typical epilogue banter the arc is over.

So Caliber arc... it's completely pointless. Nothing of substance happened, the story screams filler and doesn't even make much sense, even less if you remember that this is supposed to be inside an MMO. I think the writer forgot the difference between fiction and reality in his own world.
