First Fanfiction Completion Blog and Commentary About the Story · 5:59am Nov 12th, 2018
Hey everyone, I have finished a story I had been working on since January on and off. It feels good to finish my story, and I hope to make more in the future. Also, I want to explain a bit about why I wrote this story.
Now, Lyra and Sweetie Drops (or Bon Bon) are two of my favorite characters in the whole of the continuity of both the mainline series (Friendship is Magic), and Equestria Girls (especially Equestria Girls). I think both should be together as besties and romantic partners, too (This is the only same sex fictional couple I think should be canon).
But I saw something on an old Facebook page long since been taken down called Bronies Gone Wild. On one of their posts, I saw of picture of Lyra and Bon Bon looking sweaty, one laying on top of the other, just wearing their bras and panties with the rest of their clothes lying about. I looked up the image on Derpibooru and traced it to DeviantArt user CoffeeBurger. And I fell in love with that image and the two that were made by this particular user that may have preceded the image that graces the cover of the story (and dedicated to on the author's note).
I started work on it in late January when I was sick and stayed up all night sometimes, and during that I would write about this story.
Originally, I wanted both Lyra and Bon Bon to be shocked and mortified about what happened and don't talk about it for a while, even avoiding each other. Part of that is still in there, but toned down a bit.
I worked on it on and off, having some writers block, and then, just a few days before I submitted it. I was a little moody and my parents (divorced since '95) both told me that I should just see things differently than most.
And a little thing I also put in was the lesson that Bon Bon tells Lyra. It was taken from the song As Time Goes By featured in the film Casablanca, which has the line "The world will always welcome lovers/As time goes by." And Frank Saddletra was named for Frank Sinatra, who sang the song at one point in his career. But back to the lesson, I felt that everyone does deserve someone in their life, whether they're lovers or friends, and they will be accepted, no matter what.
I'm sorry for maybe boring you, but it's something I like to do. I'm proud of this story and will always treasure it as my first. Thank you for reading this blog post. Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen, and goodbye for now.
Sincerely,
Moonlit Stones
