Three blogs in three days, man, I'm on a roll... though I already know I probably won't be able to make one tomorrow. Btw, in case you haven't read my anniversary blog, there wasn't a SAO episode last week because of a random HunterXHunter marathon so therefore no blog.
Now let's recap, Kirito was getting his ass kicked by DG after the latter revealed to him that Kirito didn't to hear his name. So they continue fighting and remember when Kirito's lightsaber was able to cut through bullets? The lightsaber certainly did, because a simple metal... rapier... needle... thing can block it. But then Kirito remembers that he does actually know DG's name, because he already saw his name during a strategy meeting before the raid we didn't know about. It's Zaza...
Sinon manages to no-scope DG from severeal kilometres distance and Kirito uses this moment made by Sinon's Phantom Bullet, yep that's what Kirito calls it, to strike back and kill DG. If that sounds quick, that's because it was. But I admit it looked cool and the music sounded straight out of Naruto for a moment.
As the last two participants left Kirito and Sinon decide to end it, the latter refusing a battle because of Kirito's injuries. So she just puts a grenade in his hands and blows both of them up leading to both of them winning the tournament.
Shino wakes up in her home alone, but her friend Shinkawa soon appears to check on her and celebrate her victory. But then he just suddenly goes from zero to stalker in ten seconds flat and threatens her with a poisened syringe while (probably) trying to rape her. Remember when he mentioned his father works in a hospital? Masterful foreshadowing
And then he just reveals everything, he is the real DG and switched roles with his brother for the tournament, because he wanted to be the one to kill Shino. He did all of this, because he wanted to be the best GGO player and gave up his whole life for that goal, but then his first victim beat him and he started the Deathgun myth to become immortal through it. Then he reveals that he did everything for Shino, how he knew she was perfect for him when he heard her, intentionally choosing his weapon to be the one Shino was afraid of and now planning to run away with her and start a new life with her in the virtual world. Kawahare really improved himself, previous villains had no motivation, this one has two. You can choose whichever you like more.
Shino is already resigning herself when Sinon appears before and encourages her to keep fighting, especially when she remembers that Kirito might be in danger if he comes to check on her. She punches Shinkawa away and runs to her door, but he was actually smart enough to lock it and while she unlocks it he manges to catch up. Though then Kirito appears and kicks Shinkawa in the face in an admittedly pretty badass moment. And then then the episode ends.
Alright, the next episode should really be the last of this arc. My hope that Mother's Rosario is as good as I heard is the only thing that keeps me going. I hope it doesn't turn into despair.
Oh yeah, there was also a scene with Asuna at the beginning. Forgot to mention because it was pointless.
Too bad you still have a mini-arc to get through before Mother's Rosario.
