It was okay for the most part, but I'm still left with mixed feelings about the whole thing. For starters, the Grinch leak has been debunked. Good for many, but it sucks because we don't have the characters we desire.
Speaking of characters, Ken and Incineroar seemed to be obvious inclusions, what with Ken being the Echo fighter (aside from Luigi) and Incineroar being the obligatory Pokemon rep for the game. It's a shame that there was nothing further, save for that funny, but unwelcome surprise in the form of Pirahna Plant. I felt that it was not only a WTF character, but rather a subtle jab to people expecting Waluigi (myself included...). Still, I've gotten used to R.O.B. and Duck Hunt, so it's whatever
The adventure mode has definitely caught my interest, and with voice acting, no less! Not to mention that amazing vocal theme song. I wasn't surprised that Kirby would be the one to make it in the cinematic, what with him being Sakurai's brainchild of over two decades. Spirits mode is gonna be sick.
Then we have the assist trophies. It hurt having to see Shadow and Isaac being assist trophies again, but Black Knight being one was more than welcome. He's even badass when taking damage 
The Fighter's Pass is definitely interesting, although it doubles as my final hope to have Geno included in the roster. Hopefully we'll get another ballot to work from, or the company at least gives us a tasteful collection of characters to play with. Hell, we'd be lucky if some of the characters from the debunked leak might show up. Again, Geno's addition as DLC is my final hope...
My only gripe with the whole Direct aside from what has been listed above is that after all that had been revealed, all that had been confirmed...

I'm a patient man, but you can't just hype something up of this scale, have us wait, and not give us a little something to tithe us over for the time being. The next 5 weeks and 1 day can only pass by so quickly...
To my fellow Smash fans, I'd like your own personal input on the matter. Do you have thoughts of your own? Will you come to me in solidarity? I know it's asking too much for replies, but I'd like to here from you guys. 
Shantae and Geno better be characters. Shovel Knight got demoted to Assist Trophy and I wasn't entirely happy with that but I really hope those two are in. But yeah the Story mode does look amazing
4961558 I wasn't happy with Shovel Knight as an assist either, and I saw Shantae as one of the new spirits, with some comments saying the same for Geno.
Shantae and Geno would be excellent DLC characters.

Given that Shantae has been a Nintendo Exclusive you'd think they would have put her in to begin with as a character, I just really hope Geno is a playable character cause Smash 4 doing that Mii character costume was just bad
Shantae could be a Mii Fighter outfit like with Issac.

I know. She has enough history and moveset potential. I'd even settle for her being an assist trophy, just to see her dance.
All we can do is hope for whoever will be shown as DLC by early 2020.
