    Stream Thursday

I'm going to pick up where I left off yesterday on Thursday. I was originally going to continue tonight, but something came up that I had to address. Namely complications with my post-surgery care. My apologies if you were looking forward to my stream tonight. I'm still streaming "The Last Day of June" tomorrow as planned, as well.

    Here's my schedule:

    Hiatus Update

I'm sorry it's been so long since I gave y'all an update on my hiatus. Getting my life back in order hasn't been easy going or quick. As we speak, I'm on break at work. The job I have has me doing 12 hour work shifts constantly, five to six days a week. It's killing my debt fast.

    Quick update

This is going to be real brief. I'm through about half the items (that I had back in January) I wanted to get through before coming back. After what has happened now, though, I'm fairly certain I will be guided away from Fimfiction and through all these trials I face until July.

June 2018 Stats · 3:26am Jul 3rd, 2018

It's that time. The results are in... Let's see where I'm at for my goals.

I knew very well going in that 27,000 words in a single month was a big undertaking for me. If I took into consideration that my average output before May had been around just shy of 1.5k words per month over the past year, anything remotely close to that would have been a personal record.

So I know that I failed in my goal this month, but where do I currently stand? Let's take a look.

June, 2018 Achievements:

6,336 total words written

2,235 words written in Effigy of a Dragon
3,123 words written in Pandemic: Hope
124 words written in DiamondBloom's Hangout Time
854 words written in A Series of Chaotic Events

This is a 31.1% drop from last month's personal record of 9,191 words written for the month of May. It is somewhat sad to see this drop overall, especially when the first part of the month started off looking so good.

However, there were outside forces which influenced my results. Namely job interviews, preparation for my vacation, and the actual vacation which my husband and I planned to have in the latter portion of the month. These factors all played a role in my lack of activity.

So instead of looking at what actually happened, we can look at projections based upon what I did without those influences and see where I could have been. This value could tell me how much I might have been able to write if I had had the time.

In the end, I only had about twelve days of effective writing. In that time, I wrote 6,219 words (the last few words were all I managed to squeeze out during my vacation thus far, unfortunately). That's about 518 words a day, which could have equated to approximately 15,500 words, which would have still been a staggering improvement over the previous month.

That's an alright amount, I suppose, but I'd like to push for bigger goals. I think anything less than 30k words a month wouldn't be satisfactory for me. Perhaps I won't be able to reach that goal right away, but that's certainly something that I can strive for. These stats blogs are turning out to be a good means of tracking my progress thus far, and it's giving me incentive to push myself more as well. I certainly feel I can do more.

Now that I've established an overall goal to strive for, I believe it's time for us to view my next set of goals. I am still effectively gone for this week, so I will only have three effective weeks to be writing, as this is the last week of my vacation, so I should account for that in my goal.

July, 2018 goals:

21,000 total words written

9,000 words written in Effigy of a Dragon
9,000 words written in Pandemic: Hope
3,000 words written in A Series of Chaotic Events

I am going to make the additional goal of editing A Diamond For Your Trouble, chapters 2-5, as I would like to give it some TLC that a number of followers have probably been waiting for, like, ever on.

Additional Goals:

15,876 words to edit in A Diamond For Your Trouble

When it starts becoming easier for me to achieve these goals, which I wholeheartedly believe I will before long, I will start incorporating my blogs on a weekly basis. Until then, I think it is wisest for me to hold off on producing my video game and anime reviews. But don't worry, those will be back soon enough.

Want me to add additional writing goals? Post in the comment section below on any other of my stories you would like me to update or new writing projects that I had on the back burner. If you would like me to post a separate back-burner blog highlighting all my writing ideas, I can produce that for you. It might be a good idea for me to make that readily accessible on my user page as well if I make it. :raritystarry:

Sounds Good to me.

You've been around for most of this time, so you can tell my numbers are up from before. I mean, I think a large number of it is still unpublished work on something like Effigy of a Dragon, and therefore you have to take my word for it at the time being. As I'm giving out exact numbers, though... :derpytongue2:

The thought did cross my mind to simply start posting it when I released my Pandemic story, as I was getting fairly good reception as-is without any editing, but... I don't know. I think it'll be all the more precious if I can manage to hold off throughout the production phase and then start posting. Less chance for plot holes. That, and I generally intend for it to be higher quality as well.

Hm... :applejackunsure:
