So, if you're familiar with my only work on the site so far, you'll be partially familiar with the fact that I'm in the middle of the year from hell.
Starting with a car accident last October, moving through family trouble, then my fiance leaving me and kicking me out of our home, my cousin being murdered by her own son, and losing several friends over the drama known as 'fair weather', it's been a depressing eight months.
Now, I need more help. I was recently evicted from my old bachelor pad, which was condemned by the city, and had to blow what little savings I had on getting a new place. I was fortunate in the move, but paying my bills on top of rent tapped me out.
So, naturally, I have to end up in a hit-and-run accident. The link up top is a link to a GoFundMe meant to help get me on my feet while the insurance claim is ongoing. I can't work without my car, and, irrespective of the fact that the job market is more and more competitive by the day, I won't get a paycheck until a week before my bills come due again. And that's if I get hired today.
I was in the drive-thru at McDonald's, a car-length in front of the pay window, when the guy in the massive truck behind me revved his engine and slammed into my back bumper.
I don't know why he did it. I refuse to speculate. All I know is that I was bent over, getting my wallet to pay for my food, when my car jerks, my head hits the steering wheel, and my back feels like it's been lit on fire.
I got out of the car to see if he was okay, but he stayed in his truck. Tinted windows, dark windshield, I couldn't see him at all. I knocked on his door and waited a moment, and then turned to get my phone to call the police. He backed up, almost hitting the guy behind him, and then drove off. I gave chase, and almost caught up to him, when he hit South Carrollton Avenue and gunned it. All I got was his plate number.
I called the police, as you can see from the report slip, and thankfully, the gentleman behind the hit-and-runner, stayed behind to share his testimony with the police officer who responded to the scene.
That's where my good luck runs out. I was left with nothing more than a busted bumper, a broken taillight, popped nuts in my front left wheel well (apparently, unibody construction ripples when it's impacted, putting damage on the opposite end from the impact site. Kinda like an entry and exit wound from a bullet.), and a police report slip. I don't even have the other guy's insurance information, yet. The police and my lawyer are confident, but...it's time and money I do not have.
Worse, my shoulder is in bad shape. I was in a bad position when I was hit, and my arm and neck are messed up. My neck will be fine, with ice and patience, but my arm is much, much worse. My rotator cuff is one bad strain from tearing something, so I have to sling it and be careful not to lift with my upper arm until the doctor says it's healed enough.
I need help. Please...I'm sorry to do this. I hate accepting charity, far less asking for it, but life isn't being fair. I'm so sorry.
Every little helps. Five bucks, one dollar, even as little as sharing it around would be immensely helpful. Thank you, and again, I'm sorry.
