I Made My Demo Debut Album · 12:14am Mar 26th, 2018
I decided to do something a few days ago, people.
For those of you that know that I'm a musician and a guitar enthusiast, I told you of how I thought about making an instrumental demo debut album and creating a makeshift 7'' record sleeve for it. Well, some primer, spray paint and ink later, I ended up with two similar products that have my band name, which is my grandmother's name, and the title for the album underneath it, 'Sore'.
I've decided to use a custom font for the design of the front, and it was inspired by the Nirvana cover for Do Re Mi, which was similar colour. However, because I don't know much about printing and pressing records or labels, I had to make do with CDs and a basic recording setup of my phone's microphone, my amp and Audacity.
Now that I'm done, and I'm sorry to say I have no images to show you the final product, I have shown them to grandma, but I don't know if she gets it or not. I felt like telling her about it, but I'm sure she'll understand when I show her it with the actual CD attached to it, of which I can't include because Media Player's burning and ripping functions are giving me the middle finger.
I've decided to try and produce around ten CDs to give to family and/or friends or fellow music enthusiasts that I know. They are all individually numbered and stuff, and I've decided to write individual notes to say what's on it and a basic, friendly 'congrats, you have in your hands my demo debut album!' letter.
I mean, one day, if I can finally save enough to record professionally, I can easily put some of my songs and other work out there that I hope to start a band with named after my grandmother. I'm aware that she and grandad, like everyone else, won't be around forever, so I decided to immortalise them by taking matters into my own hands. My future band is the way in which I plan to do so.
