    Echoes teaser- Chapter 16 F.E.N.B.

So, it's been ages since I've written. So much to where I'm admittedly trying to shake the rust off at this point. A lot has happened that I won't go into detail about, but I decided it's time for me to finally pick up where I left off and start writing again- to finish the book series. So if there are any readers left that still follow this zombie story, here's a teaser of the upcoming chapter

Teaser: On the wings of an Eagle

Hello all, Nightie here with a small snippet for a teaser, to get you thinking about the new chapter. I'm definitely writing again since I was able to finish Before the Dawn, the words are pretty much flying onto the page with ease. No more writer's block and depression is manageable. So here's an update of the upcoming chapter: On the wings of an Eagle. Hope

Teaser: On the wings of an Eagle · 5:12am Jan 20th, 2018

Hello all, Nightie here with a small snippet for a teaser, to get you thinking about the new chapter. I'm definitely writing again since I was able to finish Before the Dawn, the words are pretty much flying onto the page with ease. No more writer's block and depression is manageable. So here's an update of the upcoming chapter: On the wings of an Eagle. Hope you like it!

Nightie lets out a sigh as she exits the medical ward, looking down at the well over-wrapped bandage and cast around her fetlock and hoof. The amount of padding is almost comedic, the black alicorn feeling as though she has a white beach ball attached to the end of her leg. She rolls her eyes and lets out a discontented snort, annoyed with the over-protective nature of the palace doctor.Waiting patiently outside of the doors, was a lavender alicorn.

“How are you feeling?” Twilight asks, her attention on a small book she has floating in her telekinesis, the mare not paying attention to the harsh glare given by Nightmare Moon.

“Aside from a broken wing and hoof, I am just fine.” Nightie replies in icy tones, the dark alicorn still seething that she was forcefully sent here at sunrise, dragged away from her master. She was already annoyed that the pink one served as the human pilot’s sleeping companion, instead of herself. Being forced here instead of being by his side, or with the cherished children of the royal couple was just icing on the proverbial cake, so to speak. “Now that I’ve followed your request to seek medical attention, I believe your terms should be satisfied. I am returning to my masters side.” She growls out.

Twilight closes her book and looks up at the black svelte mare, smiling sweetly. “Which is exactly why I’m here. Talon is awake now, and he was asking to see you, Luna and the twins. I came down here to come and get you for him.”

At this news, Nightie can only smile. Her teal orbs soften and show her joy, the alicorn turning without a word and limping to the lunar wing, almost a giddy bounce in her steps. Twilight Sparkle lets out a low chuckle at the sight, following quickly behind, then falling in stride next to Nightmare Moon in a slow canter. Their hoof steps clip-clop in a symphony as the two walk side by side, the sounds echoing in the near-empty halls against the marble tiled floor. “Are you ready for the big event today?” She hears the lavender princess ask.

“You mean the event of you foalish mares forcing my master to retire from his years of honorable service protecting Equestria?” She asks, her words dripping with venom. “Then no, I am not ready. He should be the one to choose when he hangs up his wings and not a moment before. I think you all are smothering him. Just because we all had a few scrapes with death lately, does not mean you should consider him crippled like a lame Pegasus. Retiring him is the same as death in his mind. You are all acting far crueler than I have ever been in my centuries of life.”

Twilight lets out an irritated huff, well expecting this reaction, and prepared for it. “Telling him he no longer has to work for the ERAF is not the same as telling him he’s useless and grounded from a flight, Nightie. We’re simply removing him from service so he can spend more time with his growing family, and not have to fight our battles anymore. If he decides to fly, then he should do it for nothing more than personal pleasure, not to fight for us. He’s given us so much, and we as ponies keep demanding more. After the war, his fight with Macha, that event in the mirror world, and now the crash, it’s time to retire. Even Luna agrees with this, retirement was her idea and request!”

Nightmare stops in her tracks, her left eye twitching with rage as her wings vibrate at her sides. Small blue arcs of uncontrolled magic dance off of her horn as she fights off a tiny surge of the emotion. “Luminescence of all mares should know what she’s doing to him…he’s a warrior, Sparkle. Taking him away from battle is no different than taking the teeth away from a predator. You’re removing his sole purpose to live. “She says coldly, turning her cruel gaze and rage-twisted muzzle to the smaller lavender alicorn. “From one warrior to another, only I have this understanding. You believe he’ll be happy with this, and he may smile and act as if he’s not bothered…but I of all know his heart. He will feel useless, obsolete and broken with this decision forced upon him. You have no right to take this away. And if he so asked me to kill each and every one of you for it, you had better believe with the deepest corners of your heart I would. I’ll go to Tartarus in a manner of my own choosing.”

Twilight is completely unphased by the nightmare alicorns vicious threat, simply smiling and continuing to walk. “You say that now, but you’ll see. Besides, he’s been in service both in our world, and his old world now for seventeen years, Nightie. He’s already stated that the average career of a fighter pilot is only fifteen before they’re retired due to age, or death. Normally afterward they leave their military and join civilian commercial airlines, or stay retired altogether. His body is broken, Nightie…and like it or not…” She stops, and turns, looking at the svelte black mare. Twilight opens her eyes, her expression taking on one of anger, causing Nightie to reflexively back up. “He very nearly died this time. He probably would have died against the titan, because knowing him…he’d go after it to save Morrigan. As of this afternoon, he’s going to be officially all of our husbands. Mine, and yours. I refuse to ever become a widow. He’s being retired. And if that means I have to tie you up and set you in a corner so you can have your tantrum, then you had better believe I will do it.”

The lavender alicorn now puffs out her chest and extends her wings out, a loud crack from the force echoes into the hallway. Nightie does not flinch. Twilight struts up to her now, getting muzzle to muzzle, her own horn emitting sparks. “I don’t care if you were the all-powerful Nightmare moon or not. And quite frankly, I don’t give a damn if you have a problem with this decision. This isn’t open for debate. He’s not a fighter anymore...his job is to be a father to his children, and any others we bare for him, and for him to live out his days as peacefully as possible. That man has seen more battle in his time here on Equestria, than any of our guards have seen in their lifetimes. He deserves this. Now…you are going to drop this, and you are going to walk into that room, being as sweet as possible to him, and you are going to enjoy it. Because I swear to you, fellow wife or not, if you ruin his promotion and Celestia’s gift today, I will personally make you wish you hadn’t. And that’s not even counting what Luna will do. She’s the alpha of this herd. She decided this, and that ends the discussion.”
